i think they are full of their own importance!

Who's going to write a research paper and put Collarme or Collarchat in their "works cited"?

playfulotter -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 5:25:36 PM)

So true, fluffypet...like what any of us write here is soooo important....i get the thing with photos being copied making someone upset but don't put them on your profile if you don't want them copied..my take is another thing though too for those who do it..now it is only my humble opinion but I see a bit of the "sheep" mentality in doing it too...The fear of not doing it might bring something bad down upon them...like it really matters at all..almost like protecting themselves from a curse of some kind...like I said just my humble opinion.

CaringandReal -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 5:31:25 PM)

It serves a useful purpose. I see that and I think (for many reasons), he's way too dumb to dominate me. ;)

DrkJourney -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 5:33:09 PM)

lol...I've seen that one before, of course forgot the profile name because it was so silly I just knew I had nothing in common with someone with that mindset.  As you said I can understand pictures, but who the heck would do a study here and if they did, I couldn't care less if they used the text on my profile.  On my old one I would let people copy certain parts all the time and use it for theirs...I didn't care, thought it was nice that they thought I could actually write....LOL

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 6:05:18 PM)

I see that all the time, and it wasn't too long ago that somebody posted an explanation of why they do it. I'm sorry that I don't remember all the details, but it was something to the effect that supposedly there's some university lifting data from people's profiles and quoting it in some study or something. Doesn't make much sense to me, either, and it makes even less sense to me why anyone thinks that posting that warning will protect them from... well.... whatever it is they think it's going to protect them from. There's something about it I really don't get.  It all seems very odd, really.

LanceHughes -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 6:20:40 PM)

Can you spell "paranoia"?

Aylee -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 6:31:30 PM)

I always think that it is rather silly.  If someone is REALLY doing studies or projects involving the profiles at collar me, since they involve people, that has to go through a special human experimentation counsel and releases and such would have to be signed.  I cannot recall off the top of head what it is called, but it is required.

Now it may be possible to do a demographics study, but the owners of collar me would have to make that information available to whomever is doing the study.  I do believe that they would still have to go through the human experimentation people first, but signed releases would not be needed.

Also, if someone is just quoting a profile, as long as they CITE the source it is just fine.

I fail to see how there could be a privacy issue as well.  If you put something on a public board, it is in the public and so there is no privacy violated.  Much like if I post an engagement notice in the paper.  It is in the public and have no expectation of privacy on people not quoting it.

So I think that it is a rather silly notice.

DarkSteven -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 6:44:43 PM)

If I posted a nude pic, then I could understand someone lifting it to apply for the Guinness Book of World Records, but since I'm too shy and retiring...

fluffypet61 -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 6:49:45 PM)

It's a good thing you cropped the toilet out of your pic.....

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 7:13:09 PM)

Yeah, I get a giggle from it.  Like many disclaimers, it's not worth the pixels!

Level -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 7:15:46 PM)

Nope, this one doesn't cause eye-rolling. At the most (and this is only if I am pre-irritated), it might warrant a "meh" from me.

I am afraid I can't... but it doesn't mean that "they" aren't really out to get me!

*giggles*

I think you got it right.... looks right to me, anyway!

Musicmystery -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 9:24:09 PM)

Post any warning you like. How would you stop them? How would you even know? And could you afford the time and cost of stopping them? And then the next one? And the next one?

DemonKia -> RE: Does anyone else roll their eyes when they see this on someones profile... (10/10/2009 10:40:27 PM)

Just in case any such folks are lurking (otherwise I'd not be responding with any degree of seriousness):

You cannot request the protection of your legal privacy while simultaneously consenting to making the information related to it public. You can invent supposed legal threats all you like and post them wherever you like. You cannot, however, have them substantiated in any real sense.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, my follow-up! [sm=evil.gif]

With carefully selected snippets from the profiles of members with the supposed protection warning, I have spliced together a story of intrigue and desire to rival romance novels everywhere!

*drum roll* ....

...going to be rude and try to degrade you on the first message. I believe that until you say you are mine or say that you want to be treated otherwise that I will treat you as I would anyone else.  I am leaving my attitude and personality so any questions just ask i am pretty open please don't waste my time if u r just trying 2 see me nude move on i am in some sort of chastity device (since I am a man) or nude only, always, unless otherwise directed. I have an interest in masochism, no real experience but it interests me. I am also pretty interested in being treated like I am into most fetishes.... watersports... wax play.... spankings.... u name it i probably enjoy it so any thing further just ask..... Subs/slaves feel free to ask me anything... who knows we might connect and have paying slave positions. If you serve Me faithfully and W/we enjoy our time together, I may allow you to the ultimate erogenous zone, and I believe that imagination is the most powerful means of seduction for a Dom.  Great and dark things that can be acomplished just by using your whore so dont even think of treating or speaking to me like that. I owe my experience in this life to one man so far, he's guided me, and with great reflection I want to commit...
