:) I find mtyself sorta middle ground with the A/all thing. I will say Hi A/all when I enter a room, and goodnightE/everybody I only use it for adresseing large groups, that way i dont offend anyone. I dont use it in general converstion in a room or a message board. and if i am talking to one person I generaly just type there nick name as it is spelled ona screen if they use caps then I use caps if not then I dont.

MarinaBlack -> RE: written communication (3/6/2006 3:43:41 PM)

Your guess as to the purpose of the caps vs lower-case letters is correct.

Is it necessary? Depends on you.
Everyone has their own D/s style and isn't that a wonderful thing?
We are all unique creatures and we all (tops and bottoms) have our own ways of expressing ourselves and our own values.

As you gain more experience and begin to develop your own D/s style, you will determine what compels you and what repels you.
What is important to acknowledge is that because someone may express themselves in a way you don't like it does not make them "wrong" - it just makes them wrong for you.

i began doing it as a sign of respect to my Mentor Who enjoys it. Although it was not a requirement since She is not my Mistress, i opted to continue with it both to present my respect and as a practice in focus and discipline. Upon being collared i asked Master if this is something He enjoyed - His response was yes - VOILA! That's why i do it. It's an individual thing just like anything else within a relationship. To me it just represents an acknowledgement of my place within a relationship and a way of offering respect and submission to my Master and Mentor. Basically it just places Them in a position of authority and respect in my heart and mind.

As far as the slashy thing i do it sometimes when in a chat room out of habit. I do capitalize when refering to Doms and lowercase when refering to subs. But to each their own.....whatever makes Y/you happy.

Yes, your assumption is correct. But not all people do it. In fact some people dislike it intensely. In fact I suspect you are likely to get some interesting replies to this posting.

*gets in trench and puts on hard hat*

LOL...........yes indeed on that.....I personally can do without it, but have on rare occasion capitalized Dominant, lower-cased submissive or slave. But if your whole outlook on yourself is hinging on these things.......you may have some soul-searching to do.

I My self have used this speak from day dot, it was something I liked and My slave has to do it because I tell her too, the fact that its hard to read maybe because O/others use it to literally [:)]

There is a way it can be done that causes minimal effect and hard ship, it just takes a little practise.

I would just like to confirm I do not do it to be annoying and if it has this effect on O/others ((tough)) yes theres consideration for Y/you, its My house and I run it My way ((grins))

I never expect it from T/those that contact or speak to Me but I will always use it, its like My favorite jumper You understand it might not be the worlds taste but its comfortable so why throw it away because Y/you get dirty looks [8D]

Damien

HentaiGamerKitty -> RE: written communication (3/10/2006 4:28:27 PM)

I'm a big fan of proper punctuation/capitalization. The lower case/upper case thing drives me nuts. I just find it to be annoying and kind of silly. I've always hated it when people don't capitilize their names or their "I's" for any reason. If you need that sort of strict protocol for your relationship to feel "right", more power to you. I won't associate with you though, because I think it's stupid. Double ditto for speaking in the third person. For gods' sakes, just because I like being tied up and beaten doesn't mean I don't have the right to talk like a normal person! (But then again, I'm a sexual sub, not a slave...)

Best think again china.. CM is not your house for you to run as you wish. If it were there would probably be a mass migration. Bloody hell it isn't even your sand pit to play in! CM is a C-O-M-M-U-N-I-T-Y. It is a F-A-M-I-L-Y. Tou have only one voice with no more and no less power that each and every other member of CM...

Just a piece of advice, seeing I know most of this crew by their posts. If you want to regain your lost credability and he taken seriously, it would be good if you appologise for making such a crass statement that CM is your house.

Celeste lass, what an awsome post.....

ownedgirlie -> RE: written communication (3/10/2006 7:17:00 PM)

i took his post to mean he is in his house and can do what he wants while in it - as in literally, sitting in his home and typing as he feels like it....

But Wicked Uncle & Celeste, i now have a headache - not sure if it's from trying to read through that or from laughing so hard. [:D]

Sir gets a cap. So i toe the line i guess somewhat.
3rd person speach however. In my work with people who hear voices, 3rd person speak is common, so i baulk a little when i hear it within my reality. I need to connect, not disconnect. I personally see it as a distancing piece of language usage. And you should all go wash your mouths out with soap lol

i'm curious as to why this is done. my guess is that it is supposed to be a written recognition of the D/s relationships with each other. Is this a valid assumption? If not, can someone enlighten me please?
