I have two older submissives. And by older I mean older than I am...but I'm having a really hard time calling them "boys". Both are very bright and very confident and they just don't strike me as "boys". The term 'boys' seems to lack the maturity they have. No issue calling my younger than me subs boys...

For me it's kind of like once you are over 30 you don't have 'boyfriends' you have partners or whatever.

Anyone have any thing else to call these darlings?

greetings to all,

My men (my personal pick if I were in your situation) my partners, my lovers, my slaves, my inspirations...maybe just "mine".

I hope this helps!

well wishes,

I'm partial to "my male" for refering to the wonderboy in general conversation with others ...

You could always call them by their given names.

I think its all a matter of mindset and how you want to view your submissives. I had a hard time as a grown man of 50, the first time a Mistress called me "her boy" or just "boy"; something none of my prior Mistresses had ever done. To her, it was a term of endearment and once I understood that, I began to take it as a compliment and I no longer have a problem with it. She also called me "her slut" at times (not in vanilla company), another term of endearment in "her world".

I'm no longer in service to her but have been with one other Mistress since then who did the same thing and it felt very natural for me. As a result of those experiences, I don't think its age-specific unless you want to make it such. I suggest you decide what's comfortable for you in "your D/s world" with them, perhaps using "pet" or "scene" names you may have for them.

i have never understood the fixation with the term in all honesty and i generally find it insulting. i have been known to correct men who call me "girl" as some weird way of expressing that i'm submissive. aside from the usual cringe or frown that it elicits, i feel it negates my person. if this individual encountered me in non lifestyle settings he would probably address me as ma'am. just because i'm on the kneel doesn't imply courtesy should dissipate. i'm not His girl after all. my Owner will remind me of my station. i don't feel it is a stranger's right nor responsibility to do so.

mini rant aside, i think the names you select should speak for your relationship. qualities, characteristics, quirky attributes you've noticed in them are always fodder for such. i don't think it has to be rushed either. whenever i give someone a name it is a term of endearment that is personal. i don't pluck something from the sky because it has no meaning for either party. that is what's most important. they should feel something internally when you call them by name, whatever that is.

for my own purposes i keep it simple. i can have an Owner, Love, Master, Sir, Partner, Compass, Maestro, etc. but i only have one Keeper. that's the one i never ever give out. the rest are up for grabs.

I like to use "boy" whether they are older or younger. However other options could be pet, lad or laddie, lil one, big boy (now what guy's gonna object to that LOL!), poppet (they generally cringe at that one unless they're a sissy type in which case they love it LOL), muppet (is that trademarked?) or moppet, toots or tootsie (that one too?), cuteypie (goes along with poppet) etc etc! All these tend to be somewhat status lowering which is usually the desired result. Have fun!

I never call my submissive males boys.  Mister, guy, fella, but not BOY.  It just doesn't feel right to me, never has.

I do, LadyH.  I think it's the leather in Me.

I'm also very fond of the term lil one, even though clip stands a foot taller than Me.  Yes, it does seem funny, but it's a term of endearment to Me and I'm not changing it.

Yanno, it is the leather in me that makes it NOT appealing...I do not have a Master/boy relationship with my current sub, so it's just not a natural flow.

(eeep little one makes me CRINGE!! LOL!!  different strokes, eh!)

Absolutely.  It's those little differences that make us all happy.  Sometimes, it's funny.  The things that make you smile.

Sweet pea
sugar plum,
snookums
baby face
lil darling

While it doesn't call them "boy" it does bring about the whole... youth / innocence  and establishes the hierarchy.

Just a thought,
sunshine (a real life sweetie pie)

Pet and Creature are two of my favorites. I call mine Thing because he is the 'object' of my affection.

Both are very bright and very confident and they just don't strike me as "boys". The term 'boys' seems to lack the maturity they have.

Oho!  So, if a domme addresses me as 'boy', she's implying that I'm a timid, callow dimwit, eh?  I shall remember that well.

Anyone have any thing else to call these darlings?

Gentleman callers.

MistressTaboo,

I love it when my online Second Life Mistress calls me "girl."  Of course, I am posing as a woman there, so perhaps it's more appropriate.  (Yes she knows).  **shrugs**
