As someone who enjoys traveling to places outside the US borders,  and SERIOUSLY not wanting to be perceived as an "ugly American".. it was impressed on me at an early age that it MATTERS if you learn at least a few phrases in the language of whatever country you may visit.

French:
Good morning:  Bon Matin
Good evening/night:  Bon Soir
Welcome: beinvenue

Dutch:
No: Ne (nay)

Welsh:
Nos Da: good morning (or good day)

So, what do YOU know?

hmmm let me give this a shot

Hindi
(now I don't know how the words would be written so will try and write them phonetically)

kay se (think said without the 'd') he (think hair without the 'r') - kay se he - how are you?
hum teek (or you can say T K)  -  I am well or fine

he hee, charm of making Hiltie Happy!

or making a happy Hiltie!

for wanders, direct translation:

"Good evening, my most wonderful young lady".

not girl, not woman, LADY, and the semantic difference is intentional and delectably deliberate.  tres respectful.

from the Mother Tongue of Dubrovnik...

And a very useful one in Croatian is "Nema problema", no problem.
They're out of chicken kiev? Nema problema, I'll have the steak.

Ha!

and thanks for Boker Tov!  I like that!

(Croatians I've known also love schnitzel.  No chickee?  Try the schnitzee...)

Can I confess a secret love for schnitzel a la Holstein, with a fried egg on top? I know, I'm weird.

You have me at a loss. Everytime I come across someone from another country I ask them about cusswords. Now if someone needs help in that area, I'll be around. :-)

Ahn yah say oh ... is "hello" in Korean.
Kam sah hom nee dah is "thank you" (also Korean)

Wah ee kee is "brother" or "friend" in Que'chua

I know a little bad girl Spanish... Ok, I know more than that, but bad girl Spanish is a lot of fun, and I learned it before I learned, you know, regular Spanish...
