Status: offline 		Hallo! So I'm new to using this site and I have a question. Those people who are looking for someone on here.. is it just me or are most people looking for Doms/Subs as opposed to a Partner? Would you say that this is the kind of site collarme is? Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that, I'm just wondering if this is on the ball.

I think they mean to say that they seem to get the impression that most people are more concerned about BDSM compatibility and fetishes than they are about regular type partnership and relationship concerns..

Ahm, I'm afraid you've misunderstood me. It's like a lot of profiles are only specifying what they want in their Dom/Sub, not in their Partner. Some extremes would be those who already have a Partner and are looking for a Dom/Sub, but that's not really the kind of profile I was getting at. I guess some other people are also purely just looking for Play.

I don't think I'm going to be able to adequetly explain myself in this kind of forum .. :)

Heh.. it's kind of interesting to me that you need it explaining. Clearly, I'm drawing or illustrating a difference that, if not one I believe in, that some people are making in their profile, either explicitly or through inference, right? So first off you shouldn't assume that I'm saying a Dom/Sub can not be a Partner, given that I hope you can understand more what I was trying to get at.

Status: offline 		There are thousands of profiles on CM, with people looking for everything from "Play only" to "vanilla relationship with kinky benefits" to "M/s non sexual service only" and everything in between. There really isn't a "what are most people here looking for". That said, this is a BDSM site, so many profiles will seem to focus on that aspect. One of the most oft-repeated pieces of advice here to those who are looking for a partner is to add vanilla interests to the profile for just this reason. IME, while "friends first" is common, "vanilla first and maybe kink somewhere down the road" is less so.

Reading around the forums will give you a better idea of the range of interests here, and may help answer your question as well.

Status: offline 		I think most people are looking for full relationships where they are supportive partners who enjoy each other's company but also have compatible kinks and power lines. As opposed to play only relationships where you don't also go to the movies, call each other up to kvetch when you get sick, and so on.

But you can't really judge by profiles because they don't convey the whole person. Most of the stuff CMe gives us to check are kink things. And the rest are weird, how do you become an expert at yard sales? So I don't think most people fill that sort of stuff out. You write what you must have and what you cannot deal with. The rest can be worked out.

But profiles focus more on the kink stuff because people have friends who will go to the movies with them, or to a yard sale. But if your itch to be tied up and used hasn't been scratched in a long time, then you will be focusing more on it than on general compatibility. It's like being thirsty, you don't think about it unless you're desperate to stop and get some water. If you bring it on the run with you, then you don't pay it any attention.
