For how long at a time do you want to occupy the cage?
Based upon that, some considerations are:
what positions and how much movement will the cage allow,
how much pressure or strain will that put on muscles and joints,
will the person's weight be resting against the bars,
will any of that restrict circulation or breathing or press on nerves, causing possible nerve damage, muscle strain or cramping, or harm to joints and tendons,
how much discomfort is desirable and bearable,
will the cage allow access for whatever type of scene you have in mind,
and
practicalities such as how the caged person will drink, eat, relieve themselves.
Oh, and storage! Does it need to be collapsible? How much room do you have for it to stand, when in use?
Your post makes me think of two things:
If you make the cage big enough that the occupant can't fully extend their legs, but can extend them enough for their knees to be bent at a little more than a right angle, similar to the bend of the knees when sitting in a chair, then a person without special health issues can endure it for a few hours. I'm thinking of a website that had a male in a cage that size on webcam for long periods of time.
But hyperflexion of the joints might not be sustainable for even a short period of time, especially if you're putting weight on the joints. I'm thinking of a woman who appeared in a little sketch at a leather event. She was very petite and was fit, physically. They carried her onstage hidden in a large garbage can, her knees bent up to her chest, in a tight fetal position. She staid in there for a few minutes, before she was to come up out of the can. When they went to lift her out, her knees were severely swollen and she was in great pain. She had long-lasting injury from it (wasn't clear to me whether it was her joints or her tendons, or both).
