I agree with floorkitten. Although my desire to please is very much a factor, there are obviously times when the dominant would never find out that I hadn't done what was expected. Would he be displeased? Not if he was under the impression that I was holding up my end of things.

What keeps me in line is what I consider internal honour or integrity. I WOULD know, and that would be enough.

My worth is only as good as my word.

So many good answers, i fear i have little to add.

Like others, my need to please Sire and my commitment to Him is paramount. At one time i did do something to displease Him and, while the physical punishment hurt, it was the disappointment in His voice when He said, "you have disrespected Me" that hurt worse.

Never, in the more than 20 years that i have known Him, has He ever gone back on His word, broken a promise, or disrespected me. i owe Him no less.

He is the One Man Who takes control of me and my desire to please and excite Him is what keeps me in line. When He is disappointed in me, my world falls apart....i am crushed and can think of nothing else but how to get back into His good graces.

If I submitted only out of fear of punishment, it would be coercion, not submission.

If I am in a relationship and i displease I feel like my world has ended, so its maybe that, my desperate desire to be pleasing at all times and never to let Him down or cause Him to loose faith in me, thats the worse thing I can imagin, worse than any punishement. For me needing to be punished, knowing I have caused Him to have to do that is worse than the actual punishment itself, the act of punishment itself is then a type of absolution, I never want to feel the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach if i know I have displeased so I guess thats a lot of what makes me try my hardest not to.

When one truly loves, and submits to their Top... Why should they ever consider getting out of line? Is it not better to please ones Top, and do you're best to keep them happy? Even when you want to be used, and or abused, its best to just ask for it, instead of upsetting you're Top. My love, and submission to the one I love, and belong to is more then enough to keep me in line.
