I love a steady timber voice.  Deep can be a part of that.  If someone sounded like billy mays I would be turning off my ears

This isn't a serious post but just an observation and it would be interesting to know what others thought.

Its regarding the voice of a man. I tend not to notice a mans voice unless it is particularly deep or particularly high pitched. I was with a crowd of people the other night and one particular guy stood out because of his height, his good physique and his strong featured face but when he started to talk he had an overly high pitched voice. I went from thinking 'mm he's quite hot' to not being at all attracted to him. Don't get me wrong, he was a nice guy and good company but it made me realize that all the relationships I have had have been with deep voiced men. It also made me realize that a huge part of Steves physical attraction on the dominant side of things was a lot to do with his deep voice.

Any thoughts?

I have to ask what a timber voice is?

My ex is a highlander and the accent sounds very Irish and as well as that has this very husky deep voice. You don't need to be able to sing with a voice like that.

Now I'm going to go listen to my Sweeney Todd CD. Alan Rickman, singing "Pretty Women.." WOOF.
A high pitched man's voice can be irritating so keep a ball gag handy..
Also remember a high pitch could mean unconscious anger or tension.. which you don't want..or do you?

Mmm. Deep voices gooooood!  I love low voices in men.  I have a low voice as a female myself, so I dont really know if I have a preference voice wise for a woman, other than not being Fran Dresher.

Hm, I love a higher pitched voice, but only if it's quiet... at least in my subs.  As far as the sexiest voices out there, Michael Buble (don't you dare compare him to josh groban... josh forces his voice, it sounds awful), and Mel Torme.  My own voice is considerably lower, sitting somewhere on the line between baritone and bass.  Alas, I can't sing to save my life.

For me, I recognize both dominance and submission in someone based upon their demeanor.


While I agree with your last line, I also think sometimes it is funny when we realize new things that we are attracted to that we had never put a finger on before, which seemed to be what the OP addressed.

For me, it's not necessarily the timbre but accents make me swoon. [:)]

I've NEVER heard a womans voice and said, OMG shes hawt.
but I keep repeatedly hearing women who hear a guys voice, and say, OMG hes HAWT!

So I'm sure it's common.

Plus my voice is on the high pitched side sorta, and I notice girls go from "Hey how you doin?" to "Yeah, um I gtg, my gold fish is on fire" after I say hi.

I asked Steve about an attractive woman's voice and he said its much more about accents but he did say he likes a slightly husky woman's voice without it being too deep and definitely doesn't enjoy a high pitched female voice.

I think women tend to have a preference on accents. Mine is Highlander, Irish and well spoken English but my all time favorite is a deep french accent like Jean Reno in Leon.

Oh Lord and Lady..if he has a deeper voice...throw in an accent (I just PUDDLE with a Scots, Irish, Australian, or Spanish accent) and I am done..stick a fork in me...grab a mop or a sponge done [:)]
