Surrenderwithin -> CM chatrooms (10/18/2009 5:11:59 PM)

I have used the message board here on and off for years, and became a frequent user as of late. There are a lot of peopls whose post I enjoy reading as they spark thought within me, or enable me to see a new perspective.

I am curious, are there are collarme chatrooms that are good for conversation as well? I have visited a few but I find them lacking. Do those of you who frequent the boards have any specific CM chatroom you like?
Thanks,
Maggi

Personally, I don't.

For other's they might have a different experience, but I find almost all chatrooms cliquish.  They don't really have discussions, they just talk amongst themselves and tend to ignore people that they don't know.  Just banter, no discussions like on the boards.

I have gone to rooms and tried to talk to people and it's like you're invisible.  They can jump on newbies for just speaking sometimes.  That is why you get a lot that go into chat and just be nasty, even if the room jumps on them at least they are being noticed.  It's just not that important to me.

I was part of yahoo user rooms and had a few rooms where I was a regular, after they closed down I tried these.  Mostly I just sit and watch, but seeing the battles just was not relaxing to me...guess I had been away too long at that point...lol

That's just speaking of my experience any way.

Good luck getting engaged in a worthwhile topic in the chatrooms. Here (forums) you can mentally filter by topic title; it's also much easier to move on if you're displeased with a thread's direction.

~Fast Reply~
My computer and the collarme chatrooms don't play well together, the few times I did go there, they froze up my computer.  Also the Dominant men were all over me.  Yikes!  All I wanted was a friendly chat & to kill a little time!

i don't frequent chatrooms. i have peeked out of curiosity's sake on two occasions. the first included antics that were commonplace years ago. needless to say the screen was closed immediately. on the second occurrence a discussion was taking place. but i sincerely can't wrap my mind around the concept and see little reason to expend time in that fashion. there's also the reality that the men i converse with don't utilize instant messengers. i find it highly unlikely they're going to support my participation in a chatroom. it is pointless to get attached to something that will inevitably be cast aside.

on another note, i believe NZ awarded you 15 points on another thread earlier.

Chatrooms vary.  Some are as the OP describes.  In others, you can have a serious discussion.  I'm not into advertising, but if anyone wants to know of several in which I've had great discussions, feel free to email me.

allthatjaz -> RE: CM chatrooms (10/19/2009 9:00:51 AM)

Only if I am really bored will I go to a chat room but even then its never more than half an hour or less.
There is a discussion room on here that can have some interesting and fast moving debates but your only really going to be listened to if your a regular and your not a regular if your not in the room all day and every day.

hardbodysub -> RE: CM chatrooms (10/19/2009 11:34:21 AM)

Two or three times per millennium I visit a few chat rooms to see if anyone of interest might be hanging out there. Almost invariably, the room is full of nothing but inane prattle, and/or people in silly online role play mode.

dundreggen -> RE: CM chatrooms (10/19/2009 1:55:14 PM)

[:D] We need a 'forum' users chat room.  I too have found it cliquey and silly.  I would love to be able to chat with some of the regular forum members in real time.

Agreed 100%

I've gone there once..max twice for like 2 minutes..got fed up with it. Not my thing, besides I don't really like those chatrooms.

CaringandReal -> RE: CM chatrooms (10/19/2009 3:49:11 PM)

I don't visit them frequently, as others have said. most are cliquish although a lot depends on the op in charge that night. Sometimes a good op will encourage newcomers or keep bringing the conversation back to the discussion points. But that is quite rare. Most ops are as cliquish (if not moreso) than the average room member.

However, these rooms are good for people watching, for getting a feel for what's currently on people's minds and seeing how they choose to express it. They're also stealth pick-up spots, at least for sub women. If you want that, just go in a room with a lowecase name, and wait for the private messages to start pouring in. Watch out for the hit-and-run sceners, though (these guys will ask you a lot of titillating questions--you think they are interested in you but they are just interested in getting off that evening. And they'll "work" you, offer flattery after each sexy answer you give until you realize the conversation is going nowhere. If I'm in a rare generous mood I will play along, but not usually).

As sweetsub1957 metioned, a lot of doms in the room will hit on you if they know you're sub. But if you cap your name in the room and if the name itself is role neutral you will not be bothered much. Sweetsub1957 could not get away with this, lol. But I often do! The male subs will usually scan your profile before they message, see you're a sub and leave you alone. The male doms often don't scan the profiles but they believe in the whole silly capital letters thing (can't imagine a sub who wouldn't "advertise" herself as sub) so they also leave you alone.

Chatrooms can be very nasty places. Sometimes you're just there quietly following the rules and you get jumped on for it. The ops are notorious for breaking their own room rules or claiming a newbie did something wrong when s/he didn't or purposefully misunderstanding someone and then kick/banning them, just for laughs. There are lots of common newbie mistakes that people would not make if someone bothered to just explain it to them. But most ops kick someone for making those common mistakes so they can get laughs/approval from their sick little fan clubs. Pretty pathetic, imo, but very standard.

I think a forum user chat is a good idea. ^.^

Elipsis -> RE: CM chatrooms (10/19/2009 8:24:16 PM)

From my experience the IRC channels are a lot more silly and less focused in discussion.

IRC is always like that, really...

hardbodysub -> RE: CM chatrooms (10/19/2009 8:46:57 PM)

I agree with Annabelle83 that a forum user chat might be a good idea. A room set up for a specific forum, like this one, where you can chat real time with people that you sort of know from here.

It would be incredibly easy to set up.

We'd just have to make sure everyone here knew about it.

Annabelle83 -> RE: CM chatrooms (10/19/2009 10:24:17 PM)

Ignore post cause CM keeps getting me and Surrenderwithin mixed up.

Surrenderwithin -> RE: CM chatrooms (10/19/2009 10:25:57 PM)

I personally would love to see that happen.
