Well, OP, I'd prefer to address you thru this thread, first of all . . . ..
(A) if there are any KinkySlutMarts on the planet, there'd certainly be a branch in the fine city of San Francisco. lol . . . . . Okay, probably the closest thing to an AmazonKinkdotcom, then, are FL & CM, & the nearest equivalent to the KinkySlutMart is the conglomeration of munches / classes / play parties / quasi-public dungeons & etc that will get repeated as a litany -- not that relationships can be acquired like some commodity, or at least not sustainably so . . . .
& (b) some people would really like to live in that Ground Zero of fetish -- SF -- & others live there & disparage what wealth of people & info lies around them to be learned from . . . . .
These forum posters can be very kind & polite, (c), when asked politely & nicely, when treated with respect. It's true that many like to toy with the trollishly inclined, but, after all, this is a gathering space of sadists & dominants amongst others . . . .. I posted a thread (ended up in Off Topic) recently asking for a critique of my profile & people were helpful & kind about it. In fact, with the exception of individuals with whom I have issues or who seem to have issues, I've found most people on here to be reasonably polite, even formally so, & fun, & intelligent, & very diverse, & profoundly loving & compassionate & empathic, at times . . . . & wittily, snarkily, cattily, evilly funny, a lot of the time . ... .
(D) getting to know some of the diversity of real people doing this BDSM stuff might help you figure out what your own non-stereotyped take on all this is -- mostly because most of the people who actually do this stuff are not stereotypes, & I've learned all kinds of very unique takes on kink, fetish & etc from hanging out at munches & etc . . . . . The place that is saturated with BDSM cliches is porn. If that's where you're getting some or much of your notions of BDSM, well, yeah, that stuff is very generic & lacking in intelligence, wit, imagination, & stacks of other stuff. But the chicks do have that consistent appearance thing & the guys do have big dicks & a vast willingness to consume Viagra . . . . .
Patience, persistence, doing one's homework, laboring to add to one's skills, casting one's net widely . . .. . There's a ton of info available about how to win friends, influence people, get yer money fer nothin' & yer chicks for free. I've done my due diligence, & chicks (& adorable twinks) dig me, so if an ugly old fat chick like me can have her fans, a reasonably attractive young man such of yourself can do better than you report . . . . . . .
I have to say that, personally, while I do have a bit of a you-must-be-this-pretty-to-ride policy in effect (especially with men), kindness, gentleness, willingness to learn, sense of humor, & a whole host of other personality factors weigh much more heavily.
