A coworker said that his wife told him to stop by Whole Foods after work to get some cod and zucchini.  We asked him why there because the local supermarkets were more convenient and less expensive.

He said that his wife wanted them to eat healthier... so they were shopping at Whole Foods...

If you feel pesticides are bad then whole foods is better for you. I myself don't care. However, I do care how our animals are raised and slaughtered for meat. I am an onmivarious hominid and I eat meat but I don't want my meat to suffer more than it has to to get to my plate. That's why I buy my meat at Whole Foods. It is a very expensive place to shop. I agree on that.

I love shopping at Whole Foods but I am just too tempted when I go there to buy too much so I try and not go there too often..Luckily near me the stores are not the mega-large ones but there are three Whole Foods markets within 15 blocks of me (two used to be Wild Oats stores that were bought out by Whole Foods) so that can be a problem!...I have the same problem at Trader Joes..I love the variety though!

I can buy pesticide free at local farm markets and even the supermarket these days carries produce and tells you which farm it's from. I'm told Whole Foods is amazing but I'm an hour from one. Life in the boonies.

I love love love Whole Foods.  I'll buy Ahi there because they're the only place I know who doesn't inject dye in it to make it look more pink.  That dye wreaks havok on my system.

It is expensive to shop there, though.  I go there for cool specialty items.  I love that place.

i only shop at whole foods and trader joe's save when i go to the butcher, fish monger, and wine store which also carries cheeses i can't get at either. the prices aren't an issue for me. i feel it it is a matter of priorities. i'm concerned with quality and finding a better product.

oh, dear. The dilemma:

"Whole Foods CEO John Mackey has struck a nerve with his op-ed for the Wall Street Journal trashing President Obama's healthcare proposals....His op-ed propagates several lies and half-truths about the health care plan..Mackey's solutions are a deeply, deeply conservative platform that are right out of the George Bush "ownership society" playbook"

Read more here, and make up your own mind.
