For reasons unknown, (well more likely 'cause I'm great of course), I've been asked to act as an election agent for the Parliamentary elections next year. I'm able enough and willing enough, but I need to get a full understanding of the role before I commit to it.

Trying to get clear, easy to understand information on this is proving less than easy; its mostly tucked away in various Acts of said Parliament it seems.

Anyone have any experience of this sort of thing?

What is an election agent?

I have been a member of election rooms for years. There is a lot of keeping track of everything: counting and recounting voting papers to be used. Checking identity papers. Checking the number votes cast into the ballot box. At the end of the day of course counting the votes. We did it once or twice electronically, but I like counting the paper votes better / and I also distrust the programming of the electronic votes. Last year I learned to keep to my own particular task. If I try to do the work of another as well, count is not kept correctly.

We always get instruction documentation in advance of the election, and often also a couple of hours of instruction in person.

I would guess I could wear what I wanted KS, within the bounds of good taste?

Which kinda precludes borrowing an SS uniform I guess, just to do outdo the BNP lot that would be at the count too, which is a shame.

Maybe my fetish gear...........? Though on second thoughts that might distract the Tory candidate and his followers at the count.

Decisions, decisions.......
