Yeah, whatever, every school here has been 30% absent or more this year only - and I got it and pneumonia after, and so did another young person I worked with, and she got pleurisy and a lung cartilage inflammation as well - I've been sick for 3 1/2 week so far and so tired I can barely get out of bed and I've never stopped coughing still. A high schooler I know actually (doesn't make sense until explained in a long drawn out fashion) got h1n1 and resulted in having to get his inflamed appendix taken out. And many many MANY I have known have gotten pneumonia after who are young and healthy. UNHEARD OF! PNEUMONIA IS SERIOUS. There was also a news report that people have gotten pulmonary embolisms due to h1n1, and others have had permanent lung damage. Sorry, but I know they keep saying it, but just wait until you get it!! It seems to never go away ughhhh!

I had this years flu and no one is more of a grump then I am.   I will not take any more shots WHAT-so-EVE.

Of course people that treat the body like a casino are sick.  Treat the body as a temple and you will be fine.

Young people have had even more vaccinations for everything then my age group- all of this tears down the body.  A kid born today will be lucky to see age 40.

servantforuse -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/29/2009 4:43:28 PM)

To the OP. If Bush were still in office, the left leaning media would be calling him on the carpet. The Obama promised us all 6 months ago that sufficient vaccine would be available. It is not and the media is silent.

Raiikun -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/29/2009 5:38:20 PM)

Something like 36,000 deaths each year in the US are caused by seasonal flu.  (According to the CDC).

This new strain of H1N1 isn't pretty, but it's nothing to be any more concerned about than a typical flu strain.

servantforuse -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/29/2009 5:46:20 PM)

I believe that there have been 11 H1N1 deaths in Wisconsin. It's sad but it happens. I too believe that everyone is over reacting, including the president who declared it a national emergency. No vaccine though,is on his watch . At least Kathleen Sivilius showed a reporter how to properly sneez in his sleeve.

Lockit -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/29/2009 7:26:45 PM)

I do wonder... how many came close to death and it isn't reported. I have heard of many who have been hospitalized and had I waited any longer I would have been. This flu may not be the worst... but it has resulted in the worst illnesses after that I have seen in healthy people and unhealthy. It was also one of the most costly flu's I have ever had in medications and supplies.

I told my daughter that I will now be running anytime I see some kid with a runny nose. That's how bad it got me and made me sure I never want to feel this again.

Kalista07 -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/29/2009 7:49:01 PM)

Lockit.....i'm not sure if i want to hug You or cry.........or just lay down and die.{All week i just keep looking at Him and wondering if He thinks i'm just faking it or something....but He keeps reassuring me He knows i'm not...but i feel like on some level people have got to want to tell me to suck it up...So, thanks..i'm so grateful to know i'm not alone!!!}.......... i've not been permitted to go to work all week...... Truth be told one day i did try to go to work...Got dressed, went into the office, checked my box, went into staffing sat down, knew my fever was back, and was freaking exhausted...... i wasn't even sure i could drive myself home..... i just went and put ice in a cup and fixed a glass of ice water for myself and i seriously felt like i had just done a marathon..... It occured to me that the last time i felt this completley whiped out was when i was having severe heart issues......
This sucks ass...i've been on antibiotics for the last17 days... i've been running a fever off and on throughout those 17 days....
i was one of those who scoffed at this whole H1N1 thing....
Scoff not, unless you can afford to scoff.......

Lockit -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/29/2009 7:56:57 PM)

((((((((Kalista))))))))) I feel ya sweetie! I cannot remember anything knocking my ass out like this. My house hasn't been cleaned in two months! And I don't care really because I can't care. I am just getting to where I am out of bed a few hours a day.

That is what is weird about this... the fever. You think it is gone and back at you it comes. The little girl I got it from didn't even have a fever until later that night. She was here playing and just fine and we were very close as we all were wreasling around on my bed watching movies.

I sure hope that you start feeling better soon! I am sick of the meds... and they make me sick too, but I am so thankful for them. I learned of tussin pearls... omg.. a lifesaver! Dangerous if you crack it open in your mouth as they will paralize your throat... but darn good at making it so you can breath inbetween coughing. Scary, but you are willing to do most anything to stop this shit.

Hang in there!

NuevaVida -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/29/2009 8:01:05 PM)

Wow my heart goes out to BOTH of you!  I hope you're getting the help you need and can look back on this, sooner, rather than later.

housesub4you -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/29/2009 8:07:39 PM)

It depends who you are...If you are under 4 years old, chances are very high it will kill you, they have the highest morality rate of everyone, next is pregnant women with the highest death rate...

So if you don't like children or pregnant women then this is your flu.

As a parent of a 2 year old and a husband of a pregnant wife this flu is according to Doctors something you do not want to catch.

True, it has been around for awhile, but it keeps changing and the flu shot is way behind schedule,

It kills most children in under 24 hours, so I guess, if you are not a parent, nothing to worry about.

We went to the Doc's the other day, and they ran out of the shot as people with the flu coughed all over the exam room,

It could be stopped, by people having a little lit of brains about them,  You know cover your mouth and wash you hands often,,,

Kalista07 -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/29/2009 8:13:06 PM)

i don't know why this didn't occur to me to say before but that's the other thing.... i've called my doctor's office twice this week and they've not permitted me to come in either time i called them. In fact they've specifically said to me, "please stay home" at first i kind of felt like the weren't giving me adequate care...But, when i stopped and realized that my primary care doctor is at a women's health center and is mostly a obgyn clinic....i guess it makes more sense now...
Kali

Lockit -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/29/2009 8:18:22 PM)

That makes a lot of sense Kalista... but maybe they could refere you to someone else to be seen.

They were asking people not to see a doctor unless they were having dangerous signs. That is how I am sure many are waiting too long to get care. It's partly why I did. But I went to the ER and they have masks you put on as soon as you go in.

Oh.. and thanks Nueva!

hermione83 -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/29/2009 8:21:00 PM)

This was day 20-21 for me I think, and I'm worse than I had been the past few days. I have had the flu. This isn't like any flu I've had before. I know several doctors here in Indiana, and they were all told not to report h1n1 cases, and stopped testing ages ago. They told them they don't want to cause a panic, and they refuse to close schools for this flu for the same reason, even when absenteeism levels are far above what calls for school closures. I'm not like, trying to be all conspiracy theory, but all I do everyday, is see and talk to people in the community for a living, and every younger person I know it seems has been extremely ill from this, and some older people as well. I've never heard of anything like this going around SO commonly.

Rhodes85 -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/30/2009 12:01:28 AM)

'LAst I read was that more than 1000 have died in the US from H1N1'

Yeah but you also need to realize that alot of people die every year from normal flu. Many more than that in fact. Just like with H1N1 this is usually confined to the very old, the very young and people with other health conditions such as a suppressed immune system.

Also on the subject of people under 30 being for the most part safe, that isn't always true. the 1918 spanish flu was more likely to kill those in their teens and 20s than those in their 30s and 40s.

I know schools (at least around here) are really getting overboard about possible H1N1 infections. just yesterday my neighbors granddaughter was sent home 'sick' for nothing more than a cough. literally, she coughed twice and they sent her home. which, in my opinion, is getting paranoid.

'I kept hearing that it wasn't so bad...until my co-worker's 14 y/o niece went into ICU on life support for over a week with it - her lungs collapsed and there was so much pressure on her heart it kept trying to stop.  Two weeks out of the hospital, she still has pneumonia and can not walk across a room without nearly collapsing.  She may be admitted again.  Up until now she has been a perfectly healthy adolescent.  It has been an awful situation for her and her family.  She is not yet out of the woods. '

I'm very sorry to hear that. I really hope she is better soon.

The massive vaccines cause cancer.  The body can only absorb so much.  China has almost no Alzheimers.  But it is rampant here.
So if taken all the vaccines I would not count on being healthy after age 40.

winterlight -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/30/2009 2:15:39 AM)

Personally i don't think this is anything to be taken lightly. I remember reading something about this is similiar to the Spanish flu back in 1918.

will i take the shot? You bet! I cannot wait to get mine but i am not in the group to first get one. I hope to be in the 2nd group.

A 5 year old child died here from it. Perfectly healthy and then boom gone... Bottom line: I don't want to die and i have other things that could jeopardize my health. I don't want anybody to die from this..Unfortunately they are..

winterlight -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/30/2009 2:21:28 AM)

A Dr. Gupta got this flu and said it was the worst thing he had ever gotten. It knocked him on his rear end...

yourdarkdesire -> RE: H1N1 Swine Flu (10/30/2009 3:08:28 AM)

They are now predicting the possibility of up to 400 deaths here in Alberta.  I have two children - including my 6 yr old diabetic daughter.  I will hog-tie them both if necessary - but they are getting this needle.

Just one more thing ......... can we please refer to this by its proper name ...... it is the H1N1 flu - not the SWINE flu.  The is enough fear going around that we don't need to make life more difficult for the pork industry.  The food will not make you sick.

Hunky this is ridiculous. You don't want to have the vaccine fine but this font of misinformation has reached new heights. Please at least consult reliable sources....and you have yet to do that. Oh and no sunshine and vitamin D will not protect you from the flu on their own [8|]
