I think Nancy is a great speaker and she is getting a lot of criticism from Republicans because they know she is good and it is easy to criticize her as a San Francisco liberal rather than criticizing president Obama.

servantforuse -> RE: Pelosi’s Public Unveiling of Public Option in Public Space (10/29/2009 6:58:15 PM)

There has never been a government program in the history of our country that costs what they said it would. This will be a boondoggle and could cost twice as much and probably will.

Brain -> RE: Pelosi’s Public Unveiling of Public Option in Public Space (10/29/2009 7:10:26 PM)

For you to say that explains a lot which is basically that you don't understand what's going and you are far too brainwashed with right-wing ideology. The fact is the United States spends more money than any other country in the world on healthcare and the results are an inadequate.

Moving to another system whether it's closer to the French or British or Canadian healthcare systems, or a hybrid, these other countries spend less money and get better results and that's the bottom line. You need to be more pragmatic because it's not about ideology anymore, it's about doing what works.

Why don't you answer this question? If you know what you're talking about explain to me why other countries spend less money on healthcare and cover everybody and get better results?

The only thing that makes any sense as far as you guys who are defending the status quo is that your bread is being buttered by the insurance industry like Joe Lieberman and his $1 million in campaign contributions from insurance companies.

servantforuse -> RE: Pelosi’s Public Unveiling of Public Option in Public Space (10/29/2009 7:14:53 PM)

Joe Lieberman is not a friend of the insurance companies. He sued them while he was the AG of Connecticut. He will vote against this bill because it costs to much.

No matter what we do it will cost.

Well as the saying goes "talk is cheap, it takes money to buy whiskey" If all of Obama's talk does is make noise, I am afraid he will end up being referred in the history books as the black experiment that failed.

servantforuse -> RE: Pelosi’s Public Unveiling of Public Option in Public Space (10/29/2009 7:51:54 PM)

Bottom line. This bill doesn't have the votes to pass. The senior citizens will revolt because medicare will be cut. Unions don't like it because some cadillac health plans they already have will be taxed. Small business will lobby heavily against it because they will end up paying for it.

Brain -> RE: Pelosi’s Public Unveiling of Public Option in Public Space (10/29/2009 8:26:31 PM)

You didn't answer my last question so how about explaining what you are going to do about this problem, like George bush and the Republican Party were in favour of children's health insurance.

Lack of Health Insurance to American Children, Why A New Report Says its Serious?

Amidst the heated debate on Capitol Hill and indeed all across America about healthcare reform, a new report has just been published that indicates that a lack of health insurance may have led to the deaths of 17,000 US children across the span of two decades.

Amazing how much money the health insurance companies have given someone so unfriendly to their causes.

Maybe if they limited their campiagn donatiosn to those friendly to their causes they would be able to provide quality insurance at reasonable rates or maybe you have no idea what so ever what you're claiming.

They do not care, nor does truth, follow the money and you see the votes.

"the black experiment that failed"...wow,I like that....would you mind if I borrowed that, yanno maybe toss it out in dinner conversation and claim it as my own?

That bill is a house of cards. I don't want any part of a government takeover of 1/6 th. of our economy in any form.
So health care at 1/6 of our economy and growing in leaps and bounds doesn't bother you?
You see no need for reform?....are you of the opinion we can afford to wait for a Republican leadership to sit down with the Insurance executives and negotiate a "reform" that leads to health care reaching 1/4 of the economy?

When I read that, I see an awful lot of "ifs".. The first thing to jump out to me. 167 billion in taxes and penalties for small business. What a great thing to do when unemployment is nearing 10 % and holding steady.

Let me see if I understand this.

When the statistics back your point of view they are completely accurate without question.

When they contradict your point point of view they contain a lot of "ifs".

Show me one alternative... one.  To stay on this course, we are going bankrupt anyways.

Another Obama lie you swallowed. For that to happen health care would have to crowd out the rest of the GDP.

That's an interesting comment, Acer....I don't notice anyone saying Bush was the "white experiment that failed". Can you please tell us why electing Obama is a "black experiment" either in success or failure? I'm sure we'd all be fascinated to hear your reasoning.

Why does Joe Lieberman oppose healthcare reform? Ask his wife - Healthcare Reform - Salon.com
Thursday, Oct 29, 2009 18:28 PDT

Both Lieberman and Evan Bayh have spouses who have profited from the healthcare industry

The Lieberman family's financial ties to the health industry are no secret, yet their full extent remains unknown. During her husband's 2006 reelection campaign, Hadassah Lieberman's employment as a "senior counselor" to Hill & Knowlton, one of the world’s biggest lobbying firms, briefly erupted as an issue, especially because the clients she served were in the controversial pharmaceutical and insurance sectors. Exactly what she did for those clients has never been disclosed.

Premiums are already increasing... yet again.  IF this is a lie, its one the AMA, the ANA, the AARP,  countless research projects and Congressional hearing...
At a hearing two years ago, this subcommittee learned that medical bills
were the cause of nearly half of all consumer bankruptcy cases. That study was
recently updated with data from 2007 and it now shows that 62 percent of
bankruptcy filings were caused by medical debt or illness. We hold today’s
hearing at a critical moment in the national debate over health care reform. As we
meet, several committees are considering H.R. 3200, the “America’s Affordable
Health Choices Act of 2009.” The House may vote on this bill later this week.

Now, show me the lie.
