So...anyone have a good recipe for pork tenderloin they'd like to share?

DrkJourney -> RE: Ignore Troll as a starting premise (10/30/2009 5:41:44 PM)

I like seeing the train hitting the short bus now and again, but I found I do have a limit.  There is one who just started posting and all he does is do it for attention and to fight,there is no real disussion, and he only posts on his own threads.  He is the first one I've ever blocked.  He doesn't know I blocked so to him it's just one less responding.

I blocked him so I wouldn't make the mistake and post by mistake thinking it's an honest thread, since he's not important enough for me to remember his nik.

I wish everyone would stop posting on his threads, that's the only way he will stop, but every time there are pages and pages all feeding the moron....go figure...lol

Why would it be bad if you accidentally did post in such a thread? The starter of said thread is hardly the only one reading it. If you make positive posts and contributions, everyone here can see them and learn more about your character, even if they are in response to someone who is playing mind games.

Personally, I try to live by the "say something nice or don't say anything at all" rule. If responding would be or cause insults, flaming, conflict, etc, I'd rather just back off and do something else with my time. I'm persdonally not around often enough to identify particular trolls, but I've never used the block feature on any web forum, ever. and I have no intention to start now.

DesFIP -> RE: Ignore Troll as a starting premise (10/30/2009 6:39:30 PM)

Kirby, I'm guessing you haven't been around the last few days. The new troll in question is starting multiple threads daily, usually not making any sense in them. And he started off with a bang; a fat thread. Followed it up by announcing that all true male doms like long hair on women so all women including dommes have to have long hair, and if they don't then their doms aren't truly dominant.  Which is not exactly the way to win friends and influence enemies.

Opinion on everyone gang blocking and ignoring trolls, and leave one or two 'guardians' behind to tell us when they clean up their act?

Ron,

i see this as an investment of unnecessary energy in someone i would easily ignore if i encountered the person in public. why they would warrant extra effort in a virtual environment is a mystery. regardless of what might be said, the troll can only be a nuisance if others react in a manner they find appealing. the point that is often ignored is that the supposed troll is offering the same back to their audience. as such, those that engage or interact in some capacity are getting something in return, otherwise their efforts would be expended elsewhere instead.

Sorry not for me Ron.  I would feel uncomfortable with the actual organised group blocking of someone.  Just reminds me way too much of the cliques in school. I do know how frustrating it gets though to see these threads end up so long.

NZ I definitely agree with the first point about ignoring the person by simply not contributing to the thread as you and others have said and I am sure many of us do (though I sometimes slip up).

My concern would be with your second suggestion of hijacking the thread and specifically refusing to address anything to the OP.  It seems like an immature action to take and would use a lot of energy in being so obvious about it and also .... I don't know, to me it would seem quite mean-spirited.  I know that at times when I have let my emotions colour my words I have made posts that could be hurtful to the person addressed but your suggestion is much more pre-meditated and really, at the end of the day, is a stranger on a forum worth using that energy for?

I tend to ask myself this question before posting a response - would I feel comfortable to say this to that person's face if I was standing in front of them?  If I have any hesitation in saying yes then I usually scrap the post which means that I delete much much more than I post [:)]

No need to block; then again, I have a hard time deciding which one(s) in the train wreck is/are the troll(s).

The kind of thread I'm talking about I have no interest in posting on, referring to this one person....it's my preference, I wasn't suggesting anyone else follow my lead, just voicing my opinion like everyone else on what they do

As long as people keep responding to this idiot, the longer he will continue his insulting posts and he is getting exactly what he wants...attention...even if it's negative he knows he is holding an audience.  If people want to contribute to his whoring, that's their choice, I personally have no intention of feeding this moron's ego

DemonKia -> RE: Ignore Troll as a starting premise (10/31/2009 4:10:18 AM)

Great minds, Ron . .. . .

The CM message boards have been an interesting experience. I started out posting to bulletin boards in the alt.hierarchy, 12-ish years ago, & the groups I posted to were pretty hard-core about the troll thing. I got my ass chewed a number of times for feeding trolls back then . . . . .

So when I first got here I tried to assiduously maintain that decorum, thinking it would be poor form to argue & etc with those I considered trollish . . . ..

But after a while I noticed that 'round these parts there's a different attitude towards trolls; this is a place where they're more like troll-mice for the feline-regulars to play with, toying with them, batting them around . . . . . . & it's not exactly feeding them.

As a mother I'm intimately familiar with that whole preferential order of attention-getting: positive is best, but negative beats nothin' . . . . . . & clearly the troll-poster is one that has settled for soliciting the negative, kinda by definition . .. . .

However, it seems to frequently be the case that not only is the negative attention problematically satisfying to the attention-seeker, but that those who are motivated thusly are rarely satisfiable. I see a deep restlessness & a relentless drive for ever more stimulation, with the result that the trollish attention-seeker is relatively unstable & less predictable in their posting habits than those eschewing negativity provocation . . . . . . (Ie, those such as the current troll-du-jour, blacklamion of much obtuseness, probably won't last long here . . . . . .)

So, I don't know. I'm kinda on the fence on this one. I like trainwrecks, flamewars, & pissing contests probably more than average . . . . .. But that's likely to be as much about my limited outlets for my sadomaso stuff, & that can drive some of my less noble choices all too often . . . . . .

Dearest Kia,

Once upon a time there was a CM Cruise Ship, sailing around the world in full party mode.  We had everything you could want, including dungeons and jello-wrestling pools.  The lower hold was reserved for the trolls where they were locked in.  When the ship sank, instead of drowning, the rotten trolls escaped to continue to harrass us some more.

daintydimples -> RE: Ignore Troll as a starting premise (10/31/2009 7:10:36 AM)

Great pork tenderloin recipe for this time of year:

   * 1 to 1 1/2 pounds pork tenderloin
   * 2 tablespoons cornstarch
   * 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
   * 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
   * 2 cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
   * 2 tablespoons dried cranberries or raisins

Preheat the oven to 400°. Place the pork tenderloin in a roasting pan or casserole dish. Combine the remaining ingredients in a bowl and stir. Spoon the apple mixture around the pork tenderloin. Cover and bake 30 minutes. Remove the lid and spoon the apple mixture over the tenderloin. Return to the oven and bake 15 to 20 minutes longer, or until pork tenderloin is browned and cooked through. A meat thermometer in the center should register at least 150° to 160°.

That just leads to a wee clique running about, hijacking any thread topic they don't happen to agree with.  The Mods have taken to a dim view of that.

Besides, such threads can be funny as hell!

Yea, but I do everything I can to keep mod 11 thinking happy thoughts about me and I get the feeling she might not like the idea.

LanceHughes -> RE: Ignore Troll as a starting premise (10/31/2009 7:21:07 PM)

Recently there was a nice thread, bubbling right along (is that a recipe, Lance?) A scammer (with male pic) posted something like "I am here to meet U all, with U all I can have fun.  Please to be kind to send e-mail to me here: ILoveToScam-AT-SomethingForeign-dot-com and we will get some fun. I be the Dom for U."

I hit the report post link (in lower right corner) and said "Poster is talking ON the post, instead of talking TO the post."  Guess what?  By next time I logged in, their post was gone.

Yes, ModXI (who I didn't know was a female until just now) had agreed and removed that post from the string.  Not sure if scammer profile was removed, 'cause frankly I didn't care enuf to write down their user name and check later.
