Opinion on everyone gang blocking and ignoring trolls, and leave one or two 'guardians' behind to tell us when they clean up their act?

The problem is, Ron, that they can be so doggone fascinating.  Seriously.  Train wreck, Jonestown, morbidly fascinating

Personally, I wouldn't block unless they became truly offensive in their posts.

I do it on the second LOOK AT MEE EVERYBODY FEED THE ATTENTION WHORE thread they start. No entertainment value in it for me. But it's nice to hear somebody gets something out of them...at least until their repetion gets boring and old.

It's too much fun watching them to block them....there is a certain entertainment value to the inane.....

F: None of the Above. Blocking them just feeds the martyr complex. What needs to happen is for people to genuinely, across the board, ignore them. A close second is not necessarily ignoring commentary about them, but specifically refusing to speak anything directly to them. In previous message boards I've been on, the practice of turning their threads (whatever the topic) into a thread about posting one of your favorite cooking recipes instead worked rather well.

10 points

I agree, blocking them still shows some kind of an emotional response, which is what the troll or whatever is looking for.  I have to disagree with posting recipes (though it's a cute idea :) )   and talking about them.  It still gives them entertainment and shows that people cared enough one way or another to do SOMETHING.  I feel that life going on in spite of them is the best approach.  Just do nothing. Move on.

I think it has little chance of happening.  Those who flock to threads like that are usually even bigger attention whores than the trolls themselves.

Nice thought though.

I actually love the trainwrecks.  I just love it when trolls dig themselves a pit so deep that they will never come out.  The current troll has, by his own creation, dug his own grave as far as ever utilizing this place as a dating site.  In fact, he's doing every female sub a favor by putting everything out there so they know to avoid him.

They aren't going to know if they're blocked or not, so to them that's the same as ignoring them.

As far as hijacking the thread, Mod XI has been understanding about why we would want to do that, but she still tells us not to so that isn't an option.

Block or ignore, just don't feed them. Although that's easy to say and hard to do.

The one I was on utilized both recipes and household cleaning tips.
