Well of course you find little import in Your sides paper printing false stories

And all you had to do was go to fox news .com, and type "doc fix" into their search box.

you get this

http://www.foxnews.com/search-results/search?q=doc+fix

Lots and lots of stories containing it. click the link and see. OR don't....

And you seem to have applied the same caliber of research to find out about Blair....no surprise.

Go whine panda, your good at it.

You are insisting that the tea partiers call them selves "Teabaggers", hence it is not bias for CNN to call them that and snicker.

Its only a small part of my argument, just one example. Yet you and RML wanted to round and round insisting (with absolutly no eveidence except for one unnamed guy with a button that can be made on a PC) that they call themselves that. Hence it is not bias to call them that while snickering.

I have been asking you and RML for some evidence to back your claim.

and since you have absolutly none, you walk off in a huff. As everyone can plainly see.

Pathetic

Hey, LD - you're lying. That is a blatant, baldfaced lie.

In post #197, Rule said -

quote:

You do realize it was the dumbshit teabaggers who started calling themselves teabaggers before someone told the dumbshits that it was a sexually derogatory (spell check included at no extra charge) reference?

In post #198, you replied -

quote:

No it was MSNBC that started that.

Then in post #200, you posted a link to a Wiki article proving that you were wrong. The article listed several instances in which teabaggers themselves used the term "teabag" in February and March of this year, and in which organizers of the tea party movement urged sympathizers to "tea bag the fools in DC." Your own article then goes on to say that the first known instance of MSNBC using the term "tea bag" and/or using the term to ridicule the teabaggers was on April 13, 2 months after teabaggers first used the term and 1 month after organizers at reteaparty.com used the term "tea bag."

So, your claim that MSNBC was the first to use the term is obviously false. You tried to weasel out of it by moving the goal posts, saying that it was only one guy with a sign, and not the movement leaders (which was a lie), and then claiming that it didn't matter whether the teabaggers were the first to use the term because MSNBC was the first major news organization to use the term, but that was all nothing but bullshit because your original claim was that MSNBC was the first to use the term period.

So you're lying. It used to be that when i saw you chasing your tail in these idiotic debates, I gave you the benefit of the doubt and just figured maybe you weren't bright enough to know what you were talking about, but Rule and I proved you wrong enough times in this thread that there's no plausible way you can claim ignorance. You're just lying. As you say... pathetic.

luckydawg -> RE: Take the Fox Balance/Bias Challenge! (11/20/2009 12:54:47 AM)

No we are talking about the national media....

No you are reapeating the falsehood that the orginizers called them selves that. An old man had a button. And someone posted it on the website you refered to earlier, that if you look at it, is basically a message baord that anyone can post on.

I did make aslight mistake in asking for a "leader" instead of an "organizer".

you are continuing to insist that an unnamed old man with a button, and a post on an open board qualifies as the Organizers, which is a nonsense claim.

And by that logic, any asshole anarchist with a sign at an anti war rally speaks for the anti war movement, right?? and there were some very anti American signs at those rallies.

If I can find a guy with a sign and a similar post on the Move On Forum, it reprents the organizers of the anti war movement? Of course not, that would be stupid

Yet it is what you are attempting to do.

And you feel that snickering while using a term they don't like on CNN is not bias.

you used to have a bit of intelectuall honesty, kind of sad.....

You honestly feel it does not show bias to insult and snicker at a political group on the national media???? Ok then you show your level of integrity.

THe wiki page said with one or two exceptions the term has been used exclusivly by the left.....

Actually, I got cut off by a combination of the CM edit system and being a bit tired. My entire thought was that I see little import in a reporter who six years ago being found to have falsified stories to advance his own career in a conversation about the current editorial bias of news organizations. Of course, taking any talking point, no matter how long ago and using it as justification for any wrong committed on the part of the right is, to quote you, part of your playbook.

As for the doc fix article, it is interesting that you found so many examples. I can't find any that have the democratic or support side of the matter quoted without the republican protest also quoted. It seems that "fair and balanced" means sometimes it's ok not to represent the other side as long as your side looks good.

And just as a passing thought, if you ever want to stop comparing apples and oranges, let's take the NYT and compare it to the New York Post, which owned by Rupert Murdoch who also owns Fox News. One reading of one issue will show you what a true partisan rag is and add a lot of useful context.

Personally, I think Fox will become more "fair and balanced"  when they finally hire a better Photoshop artist.

Big news people, Lou Dobbs may be considering a run for public office. That means President people. There was a website up back a few years ago to encourage him, and I'm sure from people signing up there, he realized he might have a real chance. Lou Dobbs would definitely win over the moderates, and independent voters.

He's strong on secure borders and immigration enforcement, and he believes in some type of universal healthcare. Now, most people don't like socialized medicine especially myself, but if we only cover legal citizens, and find a way to make everyone pay into it, then I'm fine with it myself.

What I dislike about socialist policies is that it enables people to go out and buy a new car while taxpayers pay for their living expenses. That's just not right.

I think he could defeat both Palin and Obama handily. Spread the news.

Musicmystery -> RE: Take the Fox Balance/Bias Challenge! (11/20/2009 8:20:59 AM)

Please start an independent thread for that. This one is muddled enough in side issues already.

Dobbs run is clearly a separate matter.

No we are talking about the national media....

You just continue to try to move the goalposts and hope nobody will notice. You're trying to move the discussion back to the national media, for obvious reasons, but this particular debate centers around a claim you made to the effect that Rule was lying when he said that teabaggers were the ones who invented the term. Your exact words were, "No it was MSNBC that started that." When we prove to you that this isn't true, you run away and try to pretend you didn't say it. And you talk to me about intellectual honesty? Own your words. If you didn't mean it, or if you misspoke, man up and say so. But don't try to pretend you didn't say it, and don't insult us because we won't let you get away with changing the subject once you've been proven wrong.

To refute your initial claim that MSNBC was the first party to use the term "teabagger," it's sufficient. You were wrong. No matter how many times you try to change the terms of the debate.

Doesn't matter. Separate issue - one which I never addressed in the first place. All I'm talking about is your claim that MSNBC was the first to use the term.

From your link:

The current mishap comes on the heels of a controversy sparked last week when footage from a conservative rally held over the summer was played on "Hannity" during a segment on a more recent rally.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me

Which constantly makes me wonder why anyone takes this network seriously.

luckydawg -> RE: Take the Fox Balance/Bias Challenge! (11/20/2009 9:37:20 AM)

No my initial claim (which wasn't mine, but me reapeating someone else's in a recap of the thread) was that CNN was showing bias by calling them that and snickering.

And MSNBC was the first to bring it to the national media.

Still have not seen the slightest evidence that the orginizers call themselves that.

and you haven't given any.

How is being On Topic Moving the goal posts?? Small websites like the one wiht the picture of the old man were specifically eliminated, not by me, but by MM at the get go.

But you can pretend it is not bias to insult and snicker, if you want.

It would really end the debate and put me in my place if you could quote or show a clip of an orginizer saying, "we Teabaggers" or some such thing.

But I have been asking for pages and you and RML can't give any, which is very evident to everyone reading the thread.

Just give me a quote of an orginizer calling him self or the movement that...If it actually happened it should be rather easy for you to do so.

Of course, it didn't so you can't.

hence all the blather....

I seem to remember the exact same thing being said when Mr. Jowls from Law and Order tried to run for President.

And at least he had some brief experience in the Senate.

I do expect an actuall response....

See, people like Bill o'reily, don't care about the constitution. They just use it to push their own agenda. When the public health option debate was raging, they were the first to pull out the constitution and note that it said nothing about providing health care for everyone.

Now why did you have no comment on the Jason Blair episode?

Well, I'll comment on it.

The Times staff discovered the fraud and made it public, as you well know since you seem to know the story.

So, let's not pretend it was a comparable situation to Fox being forced to correct itself after other news organizations took them to task for their errors.

Along with many that they were called on but refused to admit.

I saw that when it was first broadcast.  I was amazed, considering Napolitano is one of Fox's favorite lackeys.

I also thought it hilarious how O'Reilly got so upset when he expected Napolitano's usual bootlicking and got disagreement instead.  Pinhead?  Damn, I hope the honorable judge has the sense to find a new job.

Thats a very creative way of spinning the Jason Blair episode RML. And completely false...

Outsiders complained over asnd over about the stories, as well as lower editors at the times, however the executive staff at teh NYtimes, kept him on board and fast tracked him to prominence. Though his making up stuff started in his college paper.

~FR~

For what it's worth--

Absolutely no question the Jason Blair mess was a major, major editorial fuck up.

Anyway anyone wants to tell it.

I'm not trying to spin it.

Even the Wiki article agrees that the questioning of his accuracy began from within the organization, as you just said.

Contrast that with the Fox incidents.
