The Flint I've got right now is called Pyramid Power (with David Freer). The damned library is ALWAYS out of 1632.. so I've been reading the Grantville books out of sequence (annoying, but I cant help myself.. blame it on Sci.. he left me a copy of the Gazette...)

Seriously, when I get back my extra copy of 1632, I can send it to you.  I have the series.  [:)]  Of course, I am not sure when that will be.  Perhaps I can buy you a paperback copy as a christmas pressie!

Have you read, The Philosophical Strangler and Forward the Mage?

What about The Tyrant (The first in the series is The Reformer by SM Stirling)  They were both co-wrote with David Drake.

You might also enjoy the Honor Harington series by David Weber.

If you are enjoying the alternate history, SM Stirling has a series, which is what I am re-reading right now.  It is kind of in two parts.  But here are the titles:

The Nantucket Series
Island in the Sea of Time (1998)
Against the Tide of Years (1999)
On the Oceans of Eternity (2000)

The Emberverse Series
Dies the Fire (2004)
The Protector's War (2005)
A Meeting at Corvallis (2006)
{22 Years Later}
The Sunrise Lands (2007)
The Scourge of God (2008)
The Sword of the Lady (2009)
The High King of Montival (2010)

Of course I always recommend anything by Lois McMaster Bujold.

1. Superfreakonomics: Global Cooling, Patriotic Prostitutes and Why Suicide Bombers Should Buy Life Insurance - Steven D. Levitt

Freakonomics was a very interesting book.  I didn't know there was a Superfreakonomics!  I'll have to get that!

Yeah, it just came out. So far, it's interesting but not as good as "Freakonomics" was. Definitely worth reading though.

And dollparts85, I've read "The Fasting Girl: A true Victorian Medical Mystery" and it's really interesting. Good choice!

Greetings Level,

I generally read several books at a time. I'm presently enjoying the following:

Kundalini and the Chakras: Genevieve Paulson
Kundalini Tantra: Swami Satyanada Saraswati
Zen Miracles: Barbara Shoshana
If the Buddha Dated: Charlotte Kasl

I have a few others that I'm reading for a class, but the ones listed above are for enjoyment.

Freakonomics was a very interesting book.

Agreed. It's especially informative as to how kids get involved in crime.

DaftBloke -> RE: What are you reading? (11/9/2009 1:00:37 PM)

Hey porcelaine; I've read the Kasl book, it was interesting. I have some books left on Buddhism, but lost a bunch as well [>:]

Give "Meetings with Remarkable Women", by Lenore Friendman, a read if you get the chance. Wonderful book.

I've turned my nose up to both the Kindle and the upcoming Nook, but I gotta admit, they look awfully cool.

Shame on you, Level, you snob[8D] I love my Kindle. I've already sold my original one to a friend and gotten one of the new Kindle DX's. Bigger and better and, like OsideGirl, I love, love, love It!!!!!! It was my early Christmas present last year. It doesn't mean I don't still love "real" books. I still buy them and borrow them like crazy. It's just a way to carry tons of books around in your bag all at once and it's terrific!

I read everything.

3 printed papers daily, at least 1 book a week, the ongoing plethora of professional periodicals, a few online news sources.....

I wish I had more time.
