So, what's new here? Those are the same civic disobedience tactics that were taking place back in the 1960s over the Vietnam conflict. I see nothing new here.

That may well be, I don't know. I was looking at the video clip offered simply for getting an answer as to why those people were arrested. From what I saw, they were arrested for engaging in an act of civil disobedience not unlike those from 40 years ago. As to the motivation behind those who protested, I am not going to make any assumptions nor, for me, is it relevant to my understanding of why they were arrested.

As much as I dislike Bush and Cheney I have far more respect for them than this little weasel. Flip-flop: Lieberman promised 'universal health care' in 2006 Political watchdogs and supporters of the public health care option are accusing Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman of hypocrisy for announcing he plans to filibuster the Senate health care reform bill after years of voicing support for health care reform. Since Lieberman's announcement on Tuesday that he would not stop a Republican filibuster of health reform if that health reform included a public option, bloggers have been scrambling to post videos of Lieberman advocating health care reform, including the principle of universal coverage, in past election campaigns. "What I’m saying to the people of Connecticut, I can do more for you and your families to get something done to make health care affordable, to get universal health insurance," Lieberman said during a July, 2006, debate.

There is no way for me to know what "the point" might have been desired solely based upon the wording of the title. Now, if you wish to infer "the point" from the content of the video, then fine. However, as I stated in previous posts, the tactics used by the protesters are straight tried-n-true standard issue fare. The subject of the contention is irrelevant for the tactic is designed to be plug-n-play in that regard. If it wasn't about Lieberman's apparent flip-flop on health care, it could just as easily been about anything else a diametrically opposed opponent might want to create a media moment. Health care... environmental issues... civil rights... war... the subject matter is irrelevant. What is relevant is the protesters chose a standard disobedience tactic to which the police had no choice but to use their own standard response for this situation. All neatly staged to create a media event. There's nothing wrong with that either. It shows that both sides of a political argument can play the game really well.

IF you really don't know tha,t it is obvious that you are cheering for a bill you don't know what it is. Now RML showed where Lieberman wants "Universal Health Care", then called him a hypocrite for not supporting the current bill, whihc does not provide Universal Coverage, and no Dems are pretending it does. Joe Lieberman has supported a change in health care, but only if the public option is out. He is just one Senator who will vote this down. It appears that the Senate has 42 votes. They need 60. This is going nowhere soon.
