Then that at least partially explains why you choose to believe.

lol... and you are slave to your assumptions.

If finding freedom within religion does not at least partially explain why you choose to believe, please feel free to express why you choose to believe.

Atheists need people to believe in god just so they can have someone to tell they are wrong.

My question, for both sides, is "who cares what you believe...?" Honestly, I do share my belief structures with some folks, but I don't go hunting up opportunities to tell people what I believe and make them change what -they- believe to suit what I believe. The people that I talk to are either curious and ask, or already share similar philosophical and spiritual views as I do, so we sit around comparing notes.

If someone is a theist, and that helps hir sleep at night, more power to hir. If another is non-theistic, and xhe is at peace with the choice, well, then, so be it. The theists can get together and talk about their theist theories, and the non-theists can talk about their non-theistic theories, and just leave one another the heck alone.

Thank you.

Who gives a flying fuck what people believe?

I sure as hell don't. What I do know is that there is a dedicated and insistent attack on religion here by folks who can't decide what the hell they believe in, rocks, aliens, dipshit earth wannabe's who stride around in robes and stick knives in the ground proclaiming crap for mother earth. Now that is flying horse hockey. If mother earth existed she would have eradicated mankind as a pest eons ago.

I don't know why I click on these links. They full of hypothetical horseshit no matter which way you look at it.

The reason has to do with the the ideas of "spreading the faith".

If you want me to be tolerant of someone's religious beliefs then why do I have to tolerate them trying to "convert" me or anyone else?

Religion offers nothing to a society or culture wishing to move forward.  If you disagree I do not care.

For someone who doesn't care, you spend a lot of time starting threads and typing posts in order to prove your right and they are wrong. If you really don't care, why bother?

You seem to spend an inordinate amount of time attempting to convert people to your way of thinking, rule.

I don't see much difference.

Well, I am supportive of the belief in God, though I am not a Christian, or Muslim, for what I see with this religion, is the art that has been produced and kept over the centuries. Be it the church or Mosque, they bear witness to the best that man can create in terms of artisanship. The people that created these fine works did so because of their love for their God, they sacrificed their skills in tribute to their god, what better use can craftsmanship be put than to be an edifice for people present and future to marvel at, the creativity of the human hand.

Hmmm, the Vatican, now there is a different thought, for they commisioned the best of art to keep largely behind closed doors, for the delight of the few, the allowed, I would have more respect for the Vatican, if it threw open all it's doors to everyone, including it's libraries and vaults of pillaged goods for the benefit of the whole of mankind. Catholicism, I always took to be worship of the church, not God.

The other thing of course, the worship of God, stops many old buildings becoming housing estates, industrial estates or golf courses, but golf courses  at least have the delightful advantage, that they maintain green in a sea of brick and concrete.
