Its about time...hopefully the rest of the country will take a cue from the LDS Church and say, "If it is doesn't infringe on our beliefs, we don't have a problem with it"

Way to go SLC!

We forgive you for giving us The Osmonds & David Archuletta now. [:D]

they condone fair housing and employment but draw the line at marriage. Bah. I guess its better than outright hatred but its far from acceptance.

That's the very same line other people will use to explain why they do want to keep gay people's rights at bay.

I guess there should be a small "woo!" for baby steps, but it's really laughable when the people that essentially say: "Fine. You can have all that other stuff but we want our pretty little word all to ourselves!" are the ones that are the most reasonable of the bunch...

[ joke] Oh BTW I believe that The Most Powerful Lord Satan requires that we sacrifice all first born children in a pit of fire. If it is doesn't infringe on my beliefs, I don't have a problem with it [;)] [/totally kidding just trying to make a point]

True! However, I think progress, no matter how small should be celebrated.

If we think back in history to when black people didn't have the same rights as everyone...they had to start somewhere. From desegregating schools to Black President in 55 years...but those first kids to be integrated into all-white schools laid the foundation for future generations to build from.

I think that the LDS Church should hold fast to their stance on gay-marriage...for people who ARE LDS.

If someone doesn't want to follow their rules than they just shouldn't let them be in THEIR church.

Freedom of religion means ALL religions.

But Rome wasn't built in a day.

Lol wtf.

The Mormon Church changes their views on things as soon as people start to point fingers....

It's what happened with the blacks...people started to hate the Mormons because they hated the blacks so all of a sudden a 'bishop has a view one night and god said blacks were ok'

lol give me a break.

Just a question and I may be wrong so forgive me, but what does that mean when you say "the blacks"?

lilmisssubmiss -> RE: Salt Lake City & Mormon church OK Gay Rights (12/12/2009 5:51:53 PM)

People of black color... mormons use to be totally against black people.

And if you are going to get on top of me about calling black people black.. then LOL ... they are black it's their skin color..just like i'm white... no biggie, it doesn't mean anything.
