"Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
I don't care if I never get back,

Wonder if Jack Norworth, who wrote that song on a piece of scrap paper in 15 minutes while on a train to Manhattan in 1908 would have considered amending it to include this new concession stand item? The Gateway Grizzlies a minor league team in Illinois is introducing a ballpark sandwich which will include a hamburger topped with sharp cheddar cheese and two slices of bacon all between a "bun" made of a sliced Krispy Kreme Glazed donut!

That's right a Cheeseburger on a donut bun! If you just had your arteries scrapped, need 45 grams of fat, and are planning a heavy after game session to burn off 1,000 calories (without condiments), this is the item for you.

Article: Krispy Kreme Burger

Short of beth's use of mayonnaise on a hot dog, this may be the oddest combination of flavors I've run across. Just don't say "yuck" to my youthful experiment with BBQ potato chips and peanut butter on rye toast.

Any of you have secret food combination recipes?

Well, I don't know how secret it is but I love burgers on toasted english muffins [no donuts for me thankyouverymuch].

Peanut butter and pickle sandwich. Hmmmm.

Try this sometime - water chestnuts wrapped and cooked in bacon then dunked in some grape jelly and set aside to cool.

By the way, you think they might put that sammich in Wrigley ??? I think I'd have to wash it down with a refreshing Budweiser...

Neet's answer to the eating of all the high cal food is SEX and lots of it to burn off those cals.......

My evil snack consists of a sandwich of thinly sliced raw onions heavily sprinkled with garlic salt and pepper.......

OR sucking a raw lemon in front of a brass band and enjoying all those badddddd notes as the muso's lips curl....

and throw it all on a hamburger! Yum.

And beth is quite correct with use of mayonnaise on a hot dog. Growing up in NY, we use to put mayonnaise (i prefer Miracle Whip) on everything including Apple Pie!

Wait a minute! Mayonnaise on a Nathan's?? Or worse yet - a Sabbretts! That's just not "kosher"!

Miracle whip was invented and is only supposed to be used on the day after Thanksgiving on turkey/cranberry sauce sandwiches on a croissant.

Damn - HUNGRY now!

And what's the deal with this today - NYC 75 degrees sunny. LA 50 and rain! Did the poles shift overnight?

Oh, no, no, no! The T-giving turkey sandwiches are to be on toast...light mayo(not Miracle Whip...too sweet!) on one side, followed by cold stuffing, turkey and the cranberry sauce is slathered on the other side. That is the only reason I can even be bothered with Thanksgiving!
I also love a nice filet mignon, medium rare, each tender bite dunked in Italian salad dressing.
As to the hot dog...it must be all beef (preferably done on a BBQ with a few nicely blackened areas). Add a mixture of mustard and ketchup, some grated cheddar and a few dill pickle slices (not relish) jammed along the side.
Other than that, I am probably a pretty boring eater!

I don't know! It is cold as hell in Arizona (My neck of the woods anyway) with very strong winds. Enough already!

Himself actually cringes because I also use mayo on my dogs. According to Himself, there is only one condiment allowed on a hotdog.. which is mustard. lol Sour kraut is optional and ketchup won't get you killed, but it should only be used as a last resort. Relish of course, is only for the Wall Street types.

Until I met Himself, I had no idea there was a Hot Dog Protocol. ::chuckles::

Celeste

edited to add: Himself is from the Bronx and thinks anyone who is NOT from New York doesn't know jack about hot dogs anyway .. lol

And that is so right...I am from NY, long ago. Upstate, and Queens. Old habits die hard. How could I forget about the sauerkraut? I have been in Arizona far too long.
And, please, always hold that Thousand Island dressing everyone wants to put on the Reuben Sandwiches. Just bring Me a jar of mustard!

The BEST way to do hot dogs is on the end of a stick over an open campfire. Black and crunchy on the outside.

Same goes for the marshmallows that go on your S'mores.
