According to various doomsayers, prophecies, superstitions, and general hysterical ramblings, Dec. 21, 2012 will be the end of the earth.

Depending on who you believe it will either be a complete destruction of the planet, or massive disasters which will leave the majority of people dead, civilization destroyed, and generally ruin the holiday season.

Since most of the possible events are either A) impossible, B) improbable, or C) insanely outrageous, I have felt that we, as intelligent, practical (giving everyone the benefit of the doubt) and level headed, we can probably make just as many predictions on the events of the day in question.

Now, a movie due to be released has proposed that the continents will suddenly shift on the earth's crust causing earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis. Unfortunately, according to the laws of physics, this is impossible.

I have therefore come up with possible catastrophes, or lack of catastrophes to choose from, OR you can suggest your own.

The world was supposed to end in 2000? Everyone got excited to meet their maker, then he skipped the party.

Nothing will happen again in 2012.

All we really need is for Yellowstone to blow. That will put up enough dust to take care of the rest. :) Ideally I would like to see little robots (ala WallE) to come clean up the mess later... think of it.. no more pro-domme females bothering the innocent. Whooooooopeeee!

Nothing will happen and everyone will be disappointed. I remember the same hype about the world ending happening in the past on certain dates. It didn't happen then either.

Since this poll allowed for multiple selections, I choose everything except the "Nothing..." choice.

I mean, if everything happens in the upcoming movie, 2012, it must be true, right? Hollywood is never wrong.

Well the gravity will effect the cells in your body and people will not feel the best as the gravity IS changing.

Other then that it is anyones guess.

This site offers some great, scientifically based, rebuttals to all of the doomsday scenarios. Highly recommend.
