Now would you want to cut very very close to the decal or leave some of the original fabric around it?

To attach it to my shirt, I am now going to put it on some white fabric, since my shirts white and sew it on there and also use iron on fusable webbing.

if some of you have done this before and have a better way of taking pre existing decals and stuff off baby clothing an putting it on a bigger shirt, so you can wear it please let me know.

Yes I have cross posted to other crafts to get a wider arena of replies, in case nobody replies in one group, or someone in another group has done or heard of what I am doing, and the other groups have not.

What is a baby decal?  I feel that I should know this with all of the baby clothes I have in this house.

Aylee, they're the cute logo's or decorative things like iron on patches, some are really cute and I would of I knew how cut them off and repast them to my shirts.

If I had a picture for you I'd show you too, since pictures explain so much better than words sometimes.

Those are pretty darn tiny.  I cannot think that they would be all that noticable on an adults shirt.  However, I would just pull them off and use a fabric glue to re-attach. 

A better suggestion would be to try counted cross-stitch and put it directly onto your clothing.

My Daddi and I made a shirt once with an iron on sheet. It had a dinosaur on it and said Daddi's lil slut. I also had a couple of ball caps that had kids stuff on them, but were big enough to fit me. I have never tried cutting off something, but I would think you could use it like a patch after you got it off.

Aylee, well some of them are big some of them are little, and you're right there's other decals and cute stuff, And when I got some money I am going to buy fusable webbing, the better kind and make some of my own decals out of fabrics you can buy that have cute logo's and stuff that are well spaced enough to cut out, but large enough to notice.


Also you can turn almost any kind of printed fabric into an iron on, and those pannel type fabrics are great for that.


Just a side note I know how to do stamped cross stitch but counted UH UH@ hellno lol all that counting would drive me batty hehehe.

If it is an iron on (that has already been ironed on to the baby clothes) or a piece of embroidery I would cut around it leaving a little bit (like a quarter inch) of fabric around the design  and then put it on the adult garment like an applique. If it is a patch type of decal, I would carefully remove it with a seam ripper and then sew it on the garment just as I would any other patch.

That makes sense, it's an iron on that already been ironed on.

There are baby Iron-on Appliques in the craft stores.  You don't need to cut up baby clothes.

That's true, just sometimes the decals on clothing are cuter than what you can get un made, plus other times it's more economic to use baby clothing, that you already had on hand but your kids or those using them grew out of.

yeah and sometimes you just find that perfect lil thing in a thrift store and you can't resist even though you know it will never fit you. The new stuff isn't always the same.

I think it's ok to cut up baby clothes as long as you make sure the baby's not wearing them at the time.  [8|]

Did I miss something here? The how doesn't seem that difficult. It's the why that I don't understand. Is this supposed to be somehow bdsm-related, or just a random request for sewing tips?

It probably has to do with being a little or ageplay, which is a relatively common kink. Though since this is the "Polls and Random Stupidity" section, random sewing tips would fit perfectly here as the topic doesn't need to be BDSM related.

Yes AquaticSub, it's ageplay and sewing, because the baby clothing appeals to my sense of ageplay and childish cuteness, an I also wish there was some way someone w*ould make these cute outfits in an adults size, and it's also a sewing question too like ya said:)

I'd not have any problem with anyone posting requests for sewing tips, recipes, auto repair tips, or whatever here. Actually, I think that's a good thing. People talk about the bdsm community, and if we are a real community, our conversation isn't always going to be about kink. I was just curious.
