Hi

I really enjoy being caned, paddled and spanked.

What are the possible issues that could arise from regular impact play on the back, back of thighs, inner thighs, bottom and breasts.

I have done some research and have some basic knowledge but would greatly appreciate knowing anyone experience with issues that have arisen, whether short term or long term.

Thanks
beajez

Yep, would like to know what happens later after a scene, I used my single ttail and left some marks on her ass. She went back home ahd I did not get her address or contact info. Whooops

Leather butt comes to mind.

Many of the potential health risks can be minimized with a bit of precautionary measures. Broken skin opens a pathway for infection. A thorough washing with warm soapy water, dry with a clean towel, apply some anti-biotic cream. It is a good, but not perfect, prevention.
Superficial bruises are generally harmless, deep bruising can lead to blood clots. To accelerate healing, apply cold packs for 48 hours; this decreases the blood flow and keeps it from getting bigger. After 48 hours, apply heat to expand the vessels so they can carry the old blood away. Do not apply ice or heat more than 20 minutes at a time.
Avoid taking aspirin or similar drugs prior to impact play. Aspirin decreases clotting time and can cause more bleeding.
Make sure you are well hydrated before hand, this makes the skin more resilient.
I would want to be assured the top knows enough anatomy and is skilled enough to avoid damage to the kidneys, chipping bones, or puncturing the abdomen. ~~It's all fun until somebody pokes out your eye!~~[8D]
I am not sure it is scientifically sound, but I take a supplement promoted to enhance healthy breast tissue. I figure it can't hurt to believe in it!

Does anyone have any knowledge in relation to long term effects, such as calcium build up or cyst?

flogger, it seems like you already realise you goofed here so I'm not about to "beat you up" over it. However, here's My take on it:

1) Single tails are implements known for marking and also can cause severe damage unless wielded with accuracy. Not the thing for someone who isn't particularly experienced (and I assume you're not since you made a basic mistake in not knowing her contact details). Stick with "safer" implements such as paddles/floggers for now ... they are safer because the force of the blow is dispersed over a wider area. Practise with your single tail until you can reliably hit chalk marks on a cushion!

2) Quite possibly the sub had some bruising, depends on her situation as to how awkward that would be for her. Had she specifically asked for "no marks"? If so, you violated her trust by leaving some, although I always say it is impossible to guarantee no marks (you don't know their skin), I will do everything in My power not to leave any (ie use a broad implement, do a warm up, only apply it till skin is pink/red, not till it starts glowing red/purple etc).

3) Of greater concern is the potential for sub drop after the scene and your incapacity to assist with that since you didn't have her contact details. Sub drop could have left her feeling very low, possibly even teary, and in need of comfort and aftercare. Seems you would do well to research subspace, aftercare and sub drop so you are more knowledgeable for the future. There's been lots of threads here, use the search function!

As to the OP, sorry I don't know anything more about cysts etc, not heard of that being an issue. But then I am not interested in impact play to that degree, whilst I love giving a spanking etc, it is for the purpose of taking a sub to subspace, not to go to extreme physical levels.

Thanks MaamJay

I appreciate the information you have posted and agree with your comments.

In regards to cysts, I have only ever found one post relating to it, and have found it hard to find any further information. It most likely not a common thing, just trying to be thorough in my research. I did find an article on one of those online health website that states that cysts can be caused by impact where a blood vessel is burst. Hopefully, taking precautions before, during and after play will reduce any possibility of this.

If it is a blood filled space related to impact play, it isn't a cyst, it is a hematoma - or a space filled with blood, and it shouldn't be permanent. The blood will gradually absorb over time.
The worst case scenerio with a hematoma is infection which would require minor surgery to drain. In 15 years in surgery, i haven't ever seen one, so i think the odds are pretty small with that occurring.

As long as you are relatively healthy, and one person involved in the play knows a bit about what they are doing, you should be fairly safe. Not to say that NOTHING will happen, but the chances of something lingering happening is fairly slim given some knowledge applied.

thanks kiwisub

I thought the likelihood was very slim. thanks for the information though.

I too enjoy being whipped and or cane. My relationship with my Mistress has built up over the years gradually till I am now
fully committed. I am now punished without mercy because I trust and love her. I am heavily punished once a month usualy in the first week of the month. On other occasions I am usualy just given a spanking or are ordered to do more housework ,stand in a corner or locked in a cage or the stocks.
The day when I am heavily punished over several hours The total number of strokes being up to several hundred. When she has finished despite the pain beg for more. But she now knows how much I can receive without bodily damage. I have a red behind welts and bruises, My skin is seldom broken.I will not get heavy punishment again till the welts and bruises are gone. Usualy this takes 3 weeks seldom longer. I was once caned by another Mistress who cut my skin leaving 3 scars. I enjoyed that session and even asked for more.
A Mistress or Master must know when to stop be a stop work used or without mercy. Trust in that person who must have some experience as a sub before they become a dominant and know what is involved being a sub I can take heavy only because it was built up from light to heavy over a few years. Trust love and a discussion about what is to happen or a limit. Bodily damage can occur if limits are not set till full trust between each other is has evolved

Hello

I am very very new to the scene, and have a dom master. I am trying to find my way, and know that I enjoy being spanked. My master who is very experienced, wont go any further with me than some spanking. He says that I am not ready for more and has asked me to reserach the net and go onto this site to chat and ask questions. How do I get him to give me more spanking, and to get him to start to use whips etc. He is also a sadist, so I feel that if I ask, then he will only deny me more......

Blessings

GYPSYMAMBO -> RE: Health Issues Related to Impact Play (11/16/2009 4:48:45 AM)

OP:
I am glad you are researching...
*Tissue can begin to deteriorate and can be damaged quickly under repeated caning if not done properly..and that is why the pain comes in 2 waves..one with the hit and one as it( tissue) decompresses
*Breasts can build up in calcium or water cysts and become like bicycle chains inside.
A single tail can tear flesh

Contact with blood..plasma and body fluids offers another potentail danger...

* Subs..bottoms can ask the top if they have tried the implement on themselves..what their experience is etc..BUT you know that
THe Sub has a responsibility to inform the wielder of health issues..blood problems..heart issues...diabetes etc. AND THE wiedler SHOULD ASK..
* don;t ever go with someone you think is inexperienced because you feel it may be rude to decline..rude  ha!..its safe..

Hey Gypsy Mambo

Thanks for the information it is appreciated. Can you tell me what you would consider to be repeated and or regular caning? As caning would have to one of my favourite activities. At present I am lucky to see my Master once a week as we both have difficult schedules. Usually any bruising that is left is gone within 3 to 4 days.

Euro you need to demonstrate your interests, your commitment and also that you are informed on the issues. You need to grow comfortable with each other and get to a level of understanding were both of you are ready to take it further. You should never close down communication with any partner, and a sadist is no different. My Master is a sadist but we speak openly and freely, the only time that this causes me trouble is if i forget my place and / or am disrespectful. I can be quite cheeky.
