Just visited the Off Topic forum and there is a thread entitled "I am NOT fucking happy" That is an understatement, for me at least.

Now I have mentioned gambling, and that we got less than three years to get a real Presidential candidate who will use his brain. Effectively, and according to some other thread what should not be farmed out, his security. No private company shall be responsible for the safety of an elected official. The appropriate protection will be privided by the US military. But see I jumped ahead. Bigtime.

Now let's try a bit of math. We have one President. Hard to elect. Then we have 100 senators, two from each state. There are how many people in this country ? Much better odds, but not all that much better. Then there are about 435 congressmen. Mathematically that means we have 43,500 times better odds.

We The People put him there, and we make it clear. You don't have to become Dr. No, do what you have to do to stay in that chair. And we do it again and again and again. Yet none of our people get drastic until the time is right. Then they start operating in our best interests, and in turn we support them. If it is true, as stated in another thread (it is) that anyone can make a political contribution, and all this, why can't the commoner ?

Why can't our solidarity be based on the founding principles ? You may ask "So the feds only build roads and missiles ?". To which I would reply "That would be nice". Get out of everybody's shit, stop this. It is going to stop itself soon enough, but getting your foot in the door would be better than being shut out, would it not ?

People getting together in grass root organizations has been going on for a long time, but not so much on a federal level. Once we get one guy in, we immmediately start on another. Can be from the same state or not, all votes count equally. We have them vote for what is better of course, but they lay in wait for the day to strike.

It would take some hard and fast work to do this, but the turnover would be quicker as well. If life gets better more will support. Get one senator in. Then we are not talking about having a voice in one half of a third of the government, this is a whole third.

The journey of a thousand lifetimes begins with one step.

The problem is bigger than voting in one person at a time.

In my perfect world, it would be a conflict of interest to have a lawyer write laws.  Getting rid of all the lawyers in politics could be a good first step.  But wait, the current lawyers in congress would have to approve of losing their jobs, for the good of the people.  Not fucking likely.

The current Foxnews-party, I mean tea-party movement is not the answer.  When you have special-interest groups planning and coaching "spontaneous" outcry, how do ordinary citizens fight that kind of propaganda?
