Brain -> Oil running out far faster than predicted: report | Business | The Guardian (11/13/2009 11:19:36 AM)

I think this is true just like global warming is true. And if it's correct this means the entire economy will have to change. Because of the increased transportation costs it will no longer make sense to import products from China. No matter how cheap their labor costs it will not compensate for the increased cost of transportation. And that means we have to start manufacturing products here again and that will reduce unemployment and improve the economy significantly.

The International Energy Agency is accused of underestimating when oil will run out.

well, look at the common carrier nautical shipping companies stock, a great many believe it.

I can see a railroad track outside my business window, a freight train rolls thru (coast to coast and in between, both directions every 12 minutes) the trailer size boxes all used to say hanjin now they all say j.b. hunt

(In the US)

They can do hydrogen fuel cells for cars. hell, they've been able to do that since the the '60s but no fucker's bothered...

The evacuation plans for said islands are pretty well documented, even if they were mentioned in Al Gore's evil film.

and theyve got evacuation plans from Duluth. BFD. Nothing we do is going to change whether those plans will ever have to be implemented.

Moonhead -> RE: Oil running out far faster than predicted: report | Business | The Guardian (11/13/2009 3:20:46 PM)

Quite. Burning all of these fossil fuels that were laid down in the Jurassic when it was a lot hotter and there was far more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is having no impact on the climate at all. Anybody who says otherwise is a communist.

.....ah, so the fact that the Maldives are going to be underwater in 100 years or so and that their government is setting aside money to buy a new homeland is mere liberal lies, designed to undermine your way of life?

How's that ostrich position treating you? Doesn't it make your back hurt?

Its more liberal lies to take control and to make Al Gore even richer. The evidence for any warming, much less AGW fades, and there has never been any credible evidence for AGW. If the tree ring methodology was good science when it supposedly supported global warming, it should still be good science. Here is the actual tree ring graph:

...nice duck. So, you originally suggest that no islands are going under water, and once i give you the actual name of an actual island that is, you switch to blathering on about tree rings. Nice.

On another thread you accused the highly respected Panda of having no credibility. Have you heard of transference?

Do you have any idea what dendrochronology is used for? Do you understand that even if the data behind this graph didn't show a warming trend, it actually does, that it would only be a single data point? Do you understand that good science is not based on a single cherry picked data point but on all the available data?

And you apparently want to adopt the methods of the minions here who deliberately misstate what someone says. I NEVER suggested that no islands are going under water.

Yes, which is exactly why the cherry picked data that started the entire AGW nonsense was bullshit science.
And Hansen's data was wrong and so on. So who exactly is cherry picking?

We were running out of oil when Jimmy Carter was president. Brain was not even born then. Now were running out of oil again..ok.

At which point the Middle East won't matter one fucking bit, and North America will have the world's largest reserves of shale oil.

Frankly, I like the idea of the Middle East not mattering one bit.  Bring it on!
