hi! i'm new [;)] i'm a 27yr old/white/bisexual female. my girlfriend and i are really fascinated by the bdsm lifestyle and are thinking of taking it up... but we are concerned as to how it may affect our commitment in the longrun, so we will not advance without researching the facts first! guess who's tasked with the job? ;-) plz participate in my poll. it will help us in our decisionmaking process plenty. thanks!

Poly and BDSM are different, but interpenetrating domains, just like poly at bisexuality. I'm not sure how you feel that one will affect the other. As for an answer, I'm not sure just what you want. I've been poly since 1964 when I had my first BDSM experience with two lesbian women, but that's been with a number of partners. My current poly relationship with Libby is 13 years and 10 days old.

Personaly I've been openly Poly through every relationship since I was 15. So 25 years Poly. The three Primary relationships lasted 4, 5 and 9 years respectivly and the problems that drove them apart where not issues with the Poly side of things.

Hello All:) I believe that I am poly on depending in the relationship, if the submissive submits all his/her needs to me that is usually enough for me although there is a girl I am involved with whom is more vanilla,anyone I get involved with has to understand that she will always be in the picture whether in the lifestyle or just as a friendship. I believe for me and the relationship,it really depends on the submissive and how deep it goes and all that is involved before I decide if I need new slaves or what not. I am very new to being poly though within that lifestyle.

I don't have a problem with poly but it's not for me, that's for sure. I'm highly monogamous minded. I really don't see how bdsm and polyamoury have anything to do with each other. Plenty of d/s folks are poly and plenty aren't. Plent of poly folks are vanilla for that matter.

I'm not really sure what you are looking for in this poll. I have always been poly-minded, yet I have been involved with monogamous relationships in my life. If I entered a partnership with someone who was not open to being poly then it was my choice to either agree with being monogamous or not get involved. I have been in poly relationships that only physically involved two people. I am currently in this type of relationship since we have not involved anyone else. We have to both decide that a new partner entering our relationship is acceptable for both of us before we become three. To this date, we have not met anyone who comes remotely close to this. We may spend our remaining years with only each other or maybe we meet someone... time will tell. The point is that we discussed this prior to being a couple & established the acceptable basic guidelines.

I've been both, actually. When I'm single, I'm very much poly. When I've commited myself to someone I'm very much monogamous. So it could go either way. We could say that I've been poly for nearly six years now, or monogamous for that long. It depends on which period of time we're looking at. As for now, though, all that matters is that I'm married and definitely monogamous. I've been monogamous with Ty since September of 2004, and we were married last June (on my birthday). I was poly before Ty and I became exclusive, but hopefully I won't get the opportunity again.
