So, I purchased a new computer.  It is one BAMF setup, my home is now networked.  My girl likes to watch cartoons before she goes to sleep.  I do not even need to stop playing Warcraft for a second to put something on for her.

Windows Media Center is absolutely awesome as in Windows 7 - OMG.  This is my first time using WMC if it is not obvious, I still pee a little when I think about how great it is.

When I go into windows media center I can control the surround sound, cable, music, internet tv and more.  It is great I think I said that.  I get local and world radio stations too.  Oh, and another thing I create, catalog, store and maintain a library of thousands of files!

MY PROBLEM:

I have numerous movies which are my own!  They violate no copyright law except mine(c)2009.  These are not illegal, stolen or borrowed.  They are mine.  Most were taken by me.

When I go into the movies section of WMC a text description of the movie is what I click on.  This description is the name of the movie, recording, show or film(whatever).

Using a guide I found on the net I spent the time and trouble to redesign WMC - it looks cool as hell now!  The simple text description of the movie is VERY UGLY and I find it displeasing, it makes me cry a little.

On my Ipod nano and my girls shuffle when listening to music it displays an album cover.  How it does that is beyond me - must be some type of voodoo!

I would like to some how associate each individual film with a thumbnail or photograph.  Where there is a will there is a way, right - I hope?

Help me help my WMC look as beautiful as it ought to be.

I don't use mediacentrum anymore..I bought a mediastreamer, but did you ever visit The GreenButton;
http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/114.aspx

what you can try..and what works with mp3 is renaming a picture to folder.jpg and put it with a movie in a folder.

I guess I am a dumbass when it comes to computers.  I tried that with my movies and it did not work.

Is this what you are suggesting?  This is what I tried:

C:\movies is the directory I have WMC linked to.

I have movies:
A
B
C
D
EsinsGreatporn.avi

So, following the above instructions I made a thumbnail.  I called it EsinsGreatporn.jpg.

I then took this thumbnail and placed it into C:\movies

Now in that dir:
A
B
C
D
EsinsGreatporn.avi
EsinsGreatporn.jpg

Still no luck.  WMC does not associate EsinsGreatporn.avi with the thumbnail EsinsGreatporn.jpg.

Thank you for the reply.  I will try that greenroom.

I cant get a real person when I call a company.  If I do the clerk can not over ride the prescribed computer screen.

With copywrite you are guilty unless you can be proved to be innocent.  Even more shocking then this is the amount of items - the calibur that no one else in 6 billion people could ever produce or think of- irreplaceable content.

Maybe on the 3rd strike the computer itself will automatically deduct from your checking account-  or bop ya in the head.

Try http://www.mediabrowser.tv/

Though personally after my hardware outdates xp, I'll probably be going debian or slackware rather than windows 7. DRM infestation=No, kthxbai. Though I'll probably keep a few pirate copies around to play games.

Despite the good reports about windows 7, I am very reluctant to go there, as Vista has destroyed my trust in microsoft, and Win 7 is reported to look a bit like Vista in  appearance, I don't think I could go there. I am, just as soon as I can going Apple Mac, as most of my work on puters is imagery anyway.

But as to videos, I have had a box flash up in vista to make me aware of copyright, when working with videos, an annoying niggle which extends to a downright annoyance and cheek, for the videos I work on, are my own, I took them with my camera. The thoughts usually go to who the hell do MS think they are, is it they uphold big businesses rights at the expense of their customers. But then the thoughts usually go on to, MS are scared they will get sued one day for making the technology available to the masses to rip big business off.

To what extent are our operating systems spying on us I wonder, just what are they reporting back to their creator.
