Interesting. I've actually been bringing yoga into my life lately and haven't noticed an increased tolerance.


i've been practicing for about 8 years now - and obtained my 200 hour registered yoga teacher (RYT) certification last year.  i have a solid home asana (movement) and meditation practice now.  i'll say that things really ramped up for me when i integrated Kundalini yoga into my practice, which is much more focused on meditation and energy work.  They say one year of Kundalini practice equals 10 years of Hatha, and i believe it!  i was meditating today and thought only about 10 minutes had gone by, and it was more like an hour.....a lot like sub space in that regard!  [:)]

And remember, asana (movement) is only one of the eight limbs of yoga.  The others include inward and outward observances (such as cleanliness and truthfulness), breath extrension, withdrawal of the senses, concentration, and then levels of focused meditation ultimately leading to becoming one with the universe (which i have yet to achieve, ha ha!).

Not that it will be a "cure-all" for everyone, nor an "instant-fix" - it does take time with a regular practice.  But i do find that the exercise of focusing on being present and accepting in the moment through movement and meditation translates very well into submission.

I suppose that's as valid a theory as any but I don't really find it to be all that true in our lives. Valyraen is much more into yoga than I am, whereas I prefer the more intense and heated moments of sparring and martial arts. For me, yoga is just a way to way to work on my posture, balence and a nice way to spend ten minutes waking up.

i have Issues with my collar.  its not a traditional one round the neck, its a beautiful one done by Vad Farkas, a stainless steel bracelet that locks on.

and its heavy enough and rides up my arm enough as i sleep that my hand goes numb.  oh, and the goddamned hateful fracking medic alert bracelet does the same thing.  so its NOT just the bracelet.

i have to take "vacations" from wearing my collar.  which i HATE, but have to have to get some uninterupted rest.

I had a collar once which was just a rope and lock drove me Nuts to wear at night , sat right in that one spot on my neck made me feel like I wasn't able to breath at night.

i love having Master's collar around my neck, but i can't wear one for long. The back of collars always press on the spot where my skull ends and my neck begins, and i end up getting a migraine.

I LOVE turtlenecks and chokers, and tight clothing - anything formfitting or close to the body, and mildly restrictive so that every movement is a reminder.
Oddly enough I can't stand to wear jewelry, I guess I'm just not a big fan of shiny sparkly things. I have small wrists so bracelets never seem to fit properly. When I do find a ring that fits (slender fingers; size 4.5) I don't wear it. I rarely do earrings, and I only have one necklace I like enough to actually wear - a leather, lace and ribbon choker with a cameo,  made to fit as tight as possible [:)]

I have gotten so used to mine that it feels strange when it is off. It is pretty thick. With the lock it weighs over a pound.

Collars can be very comfortable if made with a certain kind of material. I prefer to wear one at all time myself, but there are times that the collar should be removed to allow relief for me... I love wearing my collar.

My collar from Valyraen is a necklace but I went out on the town the other night and wore one of my lovely dress collars. A very nice piece designed for greyhounds that was actually fit to my neck so it fastens perfectly. And I still find I can only wear it for so long before it begins to annoy the hell out of me and it must come off. It's not the material, which is beautiful soft. It's just having something around my neck - eventually it has to come off or I'm miserable. Which is a pity because I love the way collars and chokers look around my neck.

It's not an issue in our lives or anything since the one that is actually important doesn't give me trouble. I'm just curious if anyone else has a similiar issue with them. [:)]


A lot of people have this trouble.  When I read your post, I thought of all the men that have trouble wearing ties.  Seriously!

I'm claustrophobic, too, and anything around my neck, even a hand, for more than a few minutes starts to freak me out. Once I got a necklace that hung low on my collar bones wrapped up in a knit blanket and it tightened up on my neck and all I could do was cry until my friend finally cut it off. I was beyond sense enough to figure out that I could easily cut it off myself.

i am claustrophobic as well, and while i like things tight on me (gives me the feeling of being restrained) if i am not in the right mindset, even my hair laying across my neck when i lay down can cause me to panic. This has happened in the past frequently, but strangely, not at all since i have been with Master, but with Master i feel my submission at all times. i am not currently collared either, ,so that may have something to do with it as well.

I have never been able to wear anything that touches my neck. I even need to loosen my necktie and collar after a couple off hours. I understand your issue completely. I would never expect my sub to wear anything that made her uncomfortable. I have had one in the past with this issue. I bought her a matching set that included a wrist and ankle collar that matched her neck collar. The collar was a bit oversize so that it wasn't confining and it looked great. When she got uncomfortable, we would just remove the neck collar. I told her not to wear it if it made her uncomfortable, but she really wanted to wear it and that is what prompted me to get the matched set. This made her feel better about it.

You can search for Eternity Collars online. I bought hers from them. They are fashionable and are secured by a master key by your Dom. You wouldn't know that they weren't jewelry.

I know I"m not a sub and I did read through but may have missed someone replying this same thought as well but...

does it have to be a collar that goes around your neck?

I've known couples where the sub had a horrible allergy to certain metals. Which tossed out most anything made of metal or having metal on a buckle. One couple finally opted for a piece of hemp interlaced with shells around his throat. Think of the old cowrie shell  necklaces from back in the day. Sigh, yes this was eons ago! It was made to fit and then tied on so it wasn't removable unless it was cut off. 

Other couples I've known went with a belly chain or ankle bracelet when it was a case of their SO not being able to stand something around their throat.

If this has already been mentioned and I missed it in the previous 3 pages just ignore it LOL.

Like others I have eczma. I have a necklace I wear, it's fairly tight, I never take it off. It isn't metal, just a cord with a small stone pendant and that even sometimes makes a little irritation in the hollow at the base of my neck.
Really the only thing we can do is play around with materials and sizes etc that suit us.
Or like someone else mentioned, it could be a bracelet/wrist cuff/same for ankle. Really it is what the 'collar' symbolises rather than the actual item, and how they are presented to you in some cases. Although I do concede they look good.

Well, in regards to me, as I stated in the OP - this isn't so much a problem as a curiousity. My real collar is a necklace. I just happen to own several beautiful collars that I like to wear and was wondering if anyone else had trouble wearing them. :-)

I personally have no problem with other ways of collaring.

I would like to second someone on page 2 who suggested the "Turian" style collars. We got mine two years ago and it hasn't come off. It is made of stainless steel, with a locking allen pin. It is wide and lays against the collarbone giving enough space for a dominant to put his/her hand in and tug a girl/boy around so it won't bother those like me who are a little claustrophobic about something tight around the neck. The stainless steel construction seems fairly hypo-allergenic, doesn't rust in water, and is lighter than it looks.

I recommend anyone interested contact VadFarkas here on collarme, he's where my Mistress got mine and it is fantastic.

i admit i've only scanned through the responses, but it kind of feels like i don't follow the normal flow here.

i love wearing my collar, especialy if it's tight around my neck so that i am aware of it more. i wear it almost all the time, generally taking it off only to bath, go to work, or go to MA class.

The only collar i have ever worn that i found uncomfortable was a posture collar, and honestly i don't think those are meant to be comfy anyway.
