I hope this is okay to post here.  My last attempt to start a thread didn't go well.

Dairyland Greyhound Racetrack in Kenosha, Wisconsin will be closing on 12/31/09. 900 Greyhounds need to be adopted or they will be euthanized. Please help get the word out; there are only 6 weeks to get this done. Contact Joanne Kehoe Operations Director P: 312.559.0887 Or Dairyland Race Track Adoption Center direct at (262) 612-8256

MIchigan is relatively close to WI... there are several greyhound rescues maybe you could pass this info on to Joanne Kehoe maybe they can help or take some in or something. Maybe they have resources...

There are a bunch more, but I thought this would be a good place to start.

I found this article talking about what they are doing to assess and approach the problem

I know there are several greyhound rescues in FL.....

Chances are greedy they probably won't ship them that far it can get expensive, but if local area rescues and surrounding rescues pitch in they can probably take them all in. However, it's getting to be winter and homeless pets are popping up like crazy :(

We have several in Virginia too. I don't have any info on them though. I might be able to raid my son's contacts. Poor things and such beautiful creatures and wonderful pets.

Illinois is close as well.

Perhaps with the holidays coming and people about to travel there might be the ability to help to transfer some of these beautiful sweethearts to other rescues that can help.

In memory of my beloved Sammy Toe Toes. Retired Racing Greyhound and Rescue Dog. Miss you Tee Tee. RIP

I know a couple of Chinese restaurants in the area that would take them all.
