Hi,
This has nothing to do with BDSM or the results of it. I know there are some people who frequent here who have some knowledge of medicine. A friend went to the bone and joint clinic. This is what the doctor told her: You have what we refer to in medical terms as a frozen shoulder. I recommend that you be put to sleep and have your shoulder jerked loose. I must tell you this, but the chance is slight of it occurring. Your shoulder might be broken in the process. I know you'll want to go home and think about this a few days and seek another opinion.

She did an internet search and only found one mention of this treatment. Most were about physical therapy. Anyone here EVER hear of someone having this done and it turn out ok? She had a bone density test done and is now on Fossamax due to osteoporosis.

It sounds like a strange and dangerous treatment to me. But what do I know? I'm just a redneck from Mississippi.

The doctor may have been overly dramatic when saying he was going to jerk it loose. One of the treatments for adhesive capsulitis is to manipulate the joint while the patient is is under general sedation. This is usually performed after a course of physical therapy/cortisone injections proves to be unsucessful.

Your friend might want to get a second opinion from an orthopedic surgeon.

dixie, Have your friend check around ask questions use the ask a nurse feature, I don't know if you have one by phone there, but there is one on the net. See if she can find a site with the area orthopedists success rate. If your friend has osteo then a second and if needed third opinion should be obtained. Good luck, and I hope your friend fairs well. Sundew

Thanks for the posts. I've passed the info along to my friend. She has to make up her own mind and it's a big decision.
