I just want to ask, about post piercings, the yukky crispy stuff that is exuded from the piercing around the jewellery and acts like glue, does that ever quit ?

I have had my first piercings about four months now, and I am cleaning this yuk off twice daily, for the reason the piercer told me to do so, and the fact that the glue type consistency glues the jewellery, so it does'nt move, an annoyance when the jewellery is caught by something, it hurts and continues to do so for a few days, whereas before, it was fine and not hurting.

If you are concerned, go to your piercer and talk to a doctor. My nipples have been pierced for awhile (at least six months, probably more like a year - I just can't remember) and they continue to get crusty. I just keep treating them as a fresh piercing, using H2Ocean aftercare spray and antibacterial soap on them. Seems like every time I get them healed, a purse strap or something catches on one and I'm back to square one.

As someone whose had plenty of piercings, I'd just say watch them carefully as these are your first and you need to figure out how your body responds. Your piercer should be happy to answer questions you have and take a look to see how you are healing and advise from there.

Aneirin: My nip piercing wept for months too, but that was cos I had a BCR ring in. When I swapped it for a bar, it healed nicely. The goo sounds perfectly normal to me, to be honest. If it's smelly, or if there's pain that doesn't come directly from the crusties scratching the inside of the wound, it could be infected, but if it's just yer regular crusties, it's just the flesh trying to heal. My girl has 15 or more piercings so we're old hands at aftercare.

Tea Tree essential oil applied directly to the hole may help.

Next time you're in Boots, take a look for something called WoundWash, or ask your piercer about it. Good stuff, that.

I'll admit I don't know a lot about piercings other than the really old ones in my ears, but this two cents worth of stuff popped into my head.....

It's a possibility that you're sensitive to the metal....I know titanium is hypo-allergenic, but "hypo" means "less", not "none whatsoever".  You might be a rare exception to the rule.

Also, the pink-tinge and the brown sound like blood.  Maybe you're irritating the site when you bump them and a tiny bit of blood leaks from a capillary?

Just a couple of possibilities, I honestly don't know for sure.

A big case of Yowch, I caught the piercing again, on the edge of my celtic torc bracelet, it hooked the piercing and yanked it a good old way, and hurt like hell, but even a day latter, no bleeding or excessive gooing, so I take it the things are healing well.

Just got to remember to reforge the bracelet now, to stop it catching things.

I think my problem was the excessive use of salt solution, I am now only salining every three days, the shower gets the rest, and that wound wash stuff stings like hell, but I guess it's clean now.
