Hi there! Generally, I'd recommend that a newbie meet people at groups - there have to be some in Portland. If you meet some guy online and then meet in person, you're less safe than when you meet someone in a group. Plus, at play parties, you can see other doing the stuff you are curious about. How it works: you meet someone and agree to play. The two of you discuss in general terms what will happen. If you are concerned about something, let him know. If you do not want to do something, let him know. Agree on a safe word. When play starts, give control over to him and relax as much as possible. If you have more pain than you can handle or freak out for any reason, safe word immediately. He will then either ease up the pace, change to another activity, or stop play altogether. If you see a couple that seem to be happy together, start chatting with them. Ask them about prospective Doms, and who they might recommend. Welcome and have fun! The things that you will never do under any circumstances are hard limits. The things that you're willing to try, but the Top needs to go slow, could be considered soft limits.
