The dr looked at my throat and she says it's A'OK but with this sinus infection it just constantly hurts, hurts to talk to cough to swallow to clear away gook.

a sinus infection will cause drainage in your throat...VERY painful after awhile....take tylenol or motrin which ever one your Dr says is ok for you for the pain....also warm salt water gargle.

Thank you breathesasone, I am on a nasal spray for irritation an antibiotic, I can't spell it but it's amozocillan, and then of course for a different kind of clean she wants me on a netti pot type deal where you spray warm water and a solution up one nostril and it comes out the other.

Avoid dairy - that will generate more mucus. Herbal teas are good. And it's spelled amoxicillin.

I have to agree with those who have posted. I suffer from constant sinus drainage and there are days my throat feels raw. I use cough drops or lemon drops to help out. Hope you feel better

Because your sinus will drain right down your throat. Before you go to bed, take a decongestant.

Combination of hot tea, mint, and honey. Drink it warm and don't use sugar. If you are feeling like something cold, try ice water with lemon and mint leaves. It is sinus drainage and perhaps spread of the sinus infection into your throat. Take your meds and get plenty of rest and fluids. Do keep dairy to a minimum as it coats the throat and makes an excellent environment for bacteria to multiply. Coated throats also tend to increase mucus production. These are the simple ways I use to take care of my throat when it is bothersome and are usually sufficient. If you need more ideas, please let me know. I do a lot of vocal performance and have learned a lot of tricks to keeping the pipes healthy over the years. Hope you are already feeling better. lovingpet

Good morning Top! I really hope you are feeling better, I know that you have had some really tough times-must be the season. Me too!! Anyways, the mucous/phlegm is just draining down your throat and into your tummy. Might make your tummy upset too cause of the infection. Teas, like throat tea to soothe it or peppermint candies, you know those little red and white pinwheels??? I live on those now since Daddy bought them for me once. Works like a charm and settles your tummy. I have constant sinus problems as do my 3 Ums. You don't have to know all the names really, just the nicknames. Rithro (arithromycn-sp), moxi (amoxicillian), Coom (coumadin), etc. Makes going to the doctor more fun if you can talk their language, lol. I know it's gross, but I'd highly recommend spitting the gunk out. As others have said, therein lies the infection, and keeping it in your body by swallowing it really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Another vote for homemade hot honey and lemon. Maybe with a tot of whiskey.
