This time voluntarily, over Afghanistan, Hoh quits in protest.

And they say the GOP is divided!

Is this at or near a record for resignations of top appointees during a first term?

well, 10s a bunch for sure.

Of the 42 (not counting the lawyers fired) resignations in Ws admin, about that many resigned to have time to be indicted or have at least a big chat with the court systems.

I wish Colin Powell had resigned before making a fool of himself in the UN.

But yah, times are tough and policy decisions are causing people who cannot support them, to leave............

Maybe they are leaving because of Obama's approval ratings. They dipped again in the latest Rassmussen poll. 46% approve, 54% disapprove of the current administrations course

nah, nothing as mundane as that, even neo-cons who so clearly lack any sort of moral turpitude didn't dive off the bus when W was in freefall.

Oh, but Rasmussen is a biased poll. Ask...never mind.

To insure I'm on the same page as you Ron so we can further the discussion...

What policy decision has been implemented and is in place from this Administration?

To my understanding, the only official decision regarding Afghanistan that's been released is a commitment to "finish the job". What "job", and defining "finish", would seem to me to be outstanding in the case of Afghanistan. Hopefully the past six months of study and consultation with other experts and the military will be part of the 'plan' eventually disclosed. But it does beg the question and may be a reason behind some of the exodus; has any definitive and concrete 'plan', positive, and ongoing come from the Executive Branch.

Just this morning, during the pardoning of the Presidential turkey speech, I heard again; "...these are difficult times." and "...things are going to get better". When I asked out loud - what are you doing about it? I got the same answer that perhaps many of these people who've given up are getting - silence, followed by a special interest commercial about how AARP was paid off to back the Health Care Bill.

Can it be that regardless if I personally agree with the agenda that the people leaving feel the chief administrator incompetent or pragmatically unable to accomplish any of his campaign promises? The other fall out from any key person leaving is that while another key position is vacated, it doesn't stop the clock from ticking. As each day passes the "not enough time" rationalization gets weaker and weaker.

Yea he resigned, but it was back in October, it's not like it was just handed in today  And it was covered on here

Now I'm very interested in what O'bama has to say about the troop level increase, what there mission will be and as they say what's in the details.  Because if they have a clear mission, then OK, but no more of these vague "protecting freedom/liberty/WMD " missions we have been doing.

My bad again. It wasnt Hoh that hit the news today, it was Phillip Carter. Add another to the list of resignations.
