http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/25/perino-no-terrorist-attac_n_370393.html

Dana Perino, recently nominated by President Obama to the Broadcasting Board of Governors, made an odd claim Tuesday night. On Fox News, the former press secretary suggested President Obama was playing politics by refusing to describe the massacre at Fort Hood as a terrorist attack. "We should call it what it is," she said. "We did not have a terrorist attack on our country during President Bush's term," she told Sean Hannity. "I hope they're not looking at this politically. I do think that we owe it to the American people to call it what it is."
selective bullshitting is amazing

Moonhead -> RE: Did you or didnt you? (11/25/2009 12:47:08 PM)

Well, if that business in New York in 2001 wasn't a terrorist attack, then Fort Hood definitely doesn't count.
As you say, some people's double standards would be very funny if it wasn't for what they're talking about.

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Did you or didnt you? (11/25/2009 12:52:37 PM)

She's an idiot. Aside from the obvious bullshit about 9/11, we don't know at this point if Fort Hood was a terrorist attack or not because we don't know the man's motives. Was he trying to achieve a political goal of some sort, or did he just go barking mad? Until we know the answer to that, we don't know what to call it.

Who said it wasnt a terrorist attack? Oh yeaahhhhhh. Janet Reno and WJC. Where is their double standard? They had a single, incorrect standard.

My bad...I misread it as the 1993 WTC attack, not 2001. All three of them were terrorist attacks. We know enough about Hasan's beliefs, including calling himself a Soldier of Allah and shouting Allahu Akbar before the rampage to know exactly what it was. It is the same PC attitude that it "want a terrorist attack because we dont know his motives" that allowed the attack to happen in the first place.

Actually, we do know that it was not a terrorist attack. Terrorism is defined as the use of violence against civilians, to achieve a political aim. An attack on uniformed military personnel, inside a military base, could never be "terrorist".

I would replace 'odd' with 'Bizarro world'.

Then again, a press secretary on Fox. Brain left at the door.

Moonhead -> RE: Did you or didnt you? (11/25/2009 2:52:54 PM)

Do they have terrorists in Bizarro world? Presumably they just go around doing people elaborate and expensive favours there...

Bizarro terrorists give you blowjobs, cold beer, and hundred dollar bills.

Moonhead -> RE: Did you or didnt you? (11/25/2009 3:00:29 PM)

I thought it'd be something like that. [:D]

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Did you or didnt you? (11/25/2009 3:04:07 PM)

They don't sound like bad guys, really.

Moonhead -> RE: Did you or didnt you? (11/25/2009 3:10:17 PM)

Well I guess he didn't nominate her on her intelligence level.

"We did not have a terrorist attack on our country during President Bush's term," she told Sean Hannity.

Maybe she meant we didn't have a terrorist attack that involved guns and an army base in Texas, during Bush's term.

I don't know, is it possible to unnominate someone?

Lucylastic -> RE: Did you or didnt you? (11/25/2009 4:35:11 PM)

I think now might be a good time to start??
altho who knows where that will stop:)

Or maybe she meant after 9/11. So sue her for misspeaking. Im still trying to find the other 7 states.

TheHeretic -> RE: Did you or didnt you? (11/25/2009 5:57:35 PM)

I dunno.  A religious psychotic screams "Allah akbar" and shoots 40 people in a rampage.  There is a certain word that I leap to to describe such an event.

I saw a post from someone that it couldn't be terrorism because it wasn't a civilan target....

[sm=anger.gif]

Fine.  We try him, and execute him, for treason instead.

housesub4you -> RE: Did you or didnt you? (11/26/2009 2:46:38 AM)

You will also note that  conservatives like to claim that the Bush administration prevented any terror incidents in the U.S. since 9/11. But they conveniently forget the anthrax attacks on U.S. news organizations and members of Congress over the course of several weeks beginning on Sept. 18, 2001.

DarkSteven -> RE: Did you or didnt you? (11/26/2009 3:47:12 AM)

Se was press secretary under Bush and will do whatever to make Bush (more precisely, his legacy) look good.  Unfortunately, the normal means to do this is make Clinton and Obama look bad.

And while we're piling on the Bush administration, note that the "no terrorist attacks on US soil after 9/11" claim makes it sound like the administration is responsible for that fact.  It isn't.  Richard Reid made it clear through airport security and would have taken out a plane if the crew and passengers hadn't subdued him.  As if there needed to be any additional proof aside from Katrina that the administration couldn't protect us or didn't care to.

Do they? That's odd, because I am conservative and I have never made that claim. In fact I have never heard any of my many, many conservative friends and family claim that. Of course there are a few liberals who love to paint whole groups of people with one wide brush. I tend to discount most of their ravings.
