DragonNphoenix -> Quick Question (3/13/2006 11:29:29 AM)

I have a quick question. Is it normal when you drop that you get physically ill? I have developed a cold in just the last 14 hours. It happened right with my drop. I think that this has made my drop worse.

I don't believe so. I think it's just a crappy coincidence that you happened to be getting a cold when it occurred.

Take care, and drink lots of water.

If I remember correctly, phoenix, sub-drop happens because your body stops producing endorphins creating your "high" from play. If you have an addictive personality, you may get ill because you're doing through a type of detox as you go into sub-drop.

I've come down with colds, cold sores, and even stronger-than-usual PMS, when suffering drop. Like so many things the chemical soup released during heavier play can make your system a little more susceptible to viruses and stuff, I'm sure.

Now, if I know I am going to be engaging in play that might bring about drop, I try to make sure I have a day off after play to soak in a bath, nap, eat popcorn...in essence just plain coddle myself. It works for me.

Tempestspet -> RE: Quick Question (3/13/2006 4:30:29 PM)

this is getting interesting. I think I spoke way to early... and...having never experienced drop... I was just tyring to give a good guess, based on logic.

However, points made have been very enlightening. Thank you.

I do have a question though....

Does anyone think that drop happens to most, or just more often with those that do not live with their Dominant/Master?

Or, is that the point of why drop happens?

Thanks...smiles

Excellent questions.

IME yes drop happens more severly when the play is less common/more intense/relationship is long distance.

But that's only in general terms, there's plenty of exceptions.

THe point of drop is simply your emotions and body chemicals readjusting after a big upswing.

!st - Major Congrats on 8 going on 8 years!!!! Yes, it is common...if a virus of some type has been introduced PRIOR to have it accelerate. The same thing happens when a person gets reflexology (probably other things too, but I am only familiar with reflexology). It may help you to drink several glasses of water after...to help flush out your system.

I would think it would have had to have been a MAJOR high, probably extended as well for you to go through detox symptoms. Having said that...it could happen. More likely the illness was in your system though, I would try and flush things out that have been released with several glasses of water. just like you should after a good massage or reflexolgy session.

Oh gee, just what I need, one more good reason to drink that vile substance. ::sigh::

Good advice, though, Cloudz. Thanks.

Good eve... Okay. I live with my Master, my Dragon is also my husband. I dont even want to think about how intense my drops would be if he was not right here next to me all through it.

Thank you on the congrats. It has been a long 8 years, but I never want to go back to the person that I was when I was using.

It wasnt that the one session was very intense... I was that we played two nights in a row. I think that I may have let my gaurd down too much.

I feel like total crap now though.

MarinaBlack -> RE: Quick Question (3/15/2006 8:10:50 PM)

I'm assuming you mean dropping "E" - used to be that "dropping" meant acid.

Anyhow, yes it is normal.
"E" - especially the crap that's out there these years - seriously weakens the immune system. It is important to honour the fact that this is a serious chemical that comes with consequences.

I'm a bodypiercer by trade and I include "no dropping for 4 weeks" in my list of aftercare protocols in order to avoid excess swelling (especially of oral piercings) and to avoid a slower healing process.

I know that many like to drop weekly, but this is something best saved for "special occasions".:)

I mean Drop as in Sub Drop. What happens to a slave/sub when you play very hard and the chemicals go away. I have Never done E. I have been clean and sober for 8 years.

cloudboy -> RE: Quick Question (3/15/2006 9:53:12 PM)

So, as an expert on "no strings housework," what can you tell the gallery about it? We debated this subject a while back, and most concluded such an arrangement was unworkable. Not only that, but our resident expert on the subject, Veronicaofml, was deported from the boards (or withdrew for mysterious reasons.)

mystiquenz -> RE: Quick Question (3/16/2006 10:15:12 PM)

sub drop is an interesting thing ...

keep an eye on your diet, your rest, and i have this feeling that sometimes, for some people, it can depend where they are with their monthly cycle!

For me, if the play is edgy, or harder than it normally is, then i will drop. If I am close to a visit from mother's nature then the down is going to be more severe than not. I found a mixture of chocolate and bananas helped a treat.

But we are all so very different, so what works for one, may not necessarily work for another. If you are unwell, then rest ... sleep ... and look after yourself.

slavejali -> RE: Quick Question (3/17/2006 4:20:05 AM)

When you're under stress it can effect your immune system. A lot of types of plays are stress factors on the emotional, mental and physical..so it could have an effect.
