I think this is a good thing for the world economy. Diversifying investment reduces risk and fluctuations in the market are lower. Steady consistent growth is preferred to big spurts of growth and big declines because steady and consistent is long lasting - central banks investing in foreign reserves will help keep the world economy stable and improve U.S. exports.

There is a need for a system. What should it be replaced with?
So, unless something better is offered the question is hard to answer.
The US system cost is bad for businesses, bad for people and good for health care industry.
Is this what we want?

Palin offers Canadians a bold suggestion Watch

Palin tells Marg Delahunty Canada should 'dismantle' public health-care system

Comedian Mary Walsh's beloved character button-holed the former Alaska governor at a recent book-signing in Columbus, Ohio, only to be strong-armed away from Palin by a cabal of security guards.

Well if nothing else, Palin proves for once and all that intelligence is no determinant for political success...as long as you look good on TV.

I think that was already quite well established when Dubya got elected.

Palin looks good.. no doubt. People voting with their cocks, or clits, worry me. What worries me more is a group of people hinging their hopes on a woman who looks good, has questionable intelligence, and a history of quitting her obligations to those she swore to serve... and they want to make her President.

Well at the very least it proves the education system in this country needs more funding and higher standards.

"I just wanted to ask you if you have any words of encouragement for Canadian conservatives who have worked so hard to try to diminish the kind of socialized medicine we have up there." Walsh shouted to Palin as she approached the table.

"Palin's handlers tried to help her by ushering Walsh out of the Borders, but Palin could not be deterred. When Palin left the signing, Walsh caught up with her in the parking lot, where Palin suggested that Canada should get rid of its public health care system. "Keep the faith" Palin said, "because common sense conservatism can be plugged in there in Canada too. In fact, Canada needs to reform its health care system and let the private sector take over some of what the government has absorbed."

"Raw Story points out that it is unlikely this plan will go over well among Canadians -- even among conservatives:

A recent study found that 90 percent of Canadians support universal, single-payer health care. A poll taken last summer shows 82 percent of Canadians believe their health care system to be better than the US's, despite constant grumbling about waiting times for treatment of non-life-threatening conditions.

"This is Palin's second brush with Canadian comedians. Last November a comedian from Montreal convinced the former governor she was speaking with French President Nicolas Sarkozy."

Just amazing, the ego on this gal and its effect on her ability to think straight.

I heard the Sarkozy prank (radio show) last year. Absolutely mind-boggling. He gave her clue after clue after clue that it was a prank, more and more painfully obvious ones, and they all sailed over her head.

And then we could hear her going after her staff (on the radio gag) as they apologize profusely. Jeez.

No, only a far too large number of us.

Another right leaning poster suggessted on another thread that the "left" was scared of Sarah....I don't buy that for a minute, the left is way too busy laughing at Sarah.
But that far too large number that Rule refers to....that scares the shit out of me( I don't actually speak for the left...I just play a lefty on tv).

Agreed.

But that the "establishment" would support this is indeed scary (not Sarah herself, who is just a pretty pawn).

Here's the thing I don't get about Palin.  With the exception of quitting as governor (And yes that should have ended ANY possibility of a political career from that time on.) how is she any less competent that Joe Biden?  I mean I completely understand not wanting her be so close to the presidency, but is anyone comfortable with Biden being just as close?

Which is quite timely given that our President has proven once and for all that intelligence is no determinant for good decision making, as long you can sell your ideas with soaring rhetoric, outright deceit, and with the help of a teleprompter.
