Why is it that so many males cannot read or is it that males choose not to read. I mean if I go to the trouble to put something up in a profile, I have an expectation that those that would be interested would respect directions I give. It they are not going to follow simple and clear instruction about my interests why should I take any in theirs?

Maybe their reading comprehension is on par with your writing skills...

I don't think the phenomenon is limited to males. People, in general, choose not to read. I think a lot of people just don't like taking the effort, not when so many things are given to us verbally or through pictures. Everything is made so simple, that the "effort" of reading is just seen as a nuisance and not a skill.

Also, alot of people on here are looking for a "quick fix" solution to their needs, and so don't take the time to read past your gender, age, top or bottom, and which way you swing.

In my experience, it is is not just a man thing. Of course, literacy does consist of more than just reading skills. Writing in an effective manner is another part of the literacy equation.

This phenomenon of people not actually reading the profiles they respond to is a new development. As such we have no advice for you. Perhaps after another hundred thousand threads on the topic we will have an answer for you.

the developement has been stirred by the influx of many more people having nothing better to do then making others lives miserable. as to the source of the influx, I cannot yet point to it's cause. more research and observation is required.
as for solutions, enjoy the ignore button I guess?

Shen I don't know if I agree that the people who don't read profiles are aiming to make a person's life miserable, many of them probably figure if they troll everyone someone sooner or later will say yes

Bootlegs, welcome to life on CM as a female plus you are new so are likely to get more messages.  Rather than getting het up about it let the delete button be your friend. Life is way too short to be getting pissed off about.  Your journal has 3 messages today saying no messages and still you get messages.... so maybe just let go of the frustration and delete.  I hope you enjoy your time here

Perhaps you should give up holding unrealistic expectations and relax. Your expectations that anyone looking at pictures will be driven to study your profile is your expectation. As you have seen, the reality is very different.

More importantly OP, what's the big deal. It's spam, junk mail. Just like circulars from Walmart in your mailbox. Or do you throw tantrums about that too? You click delete and you move on without getting your knickers in a twist.

People need to stay out of my head.

Seriously, employ the ignore and delete features. The hissy fits are unbecoming. Unless of course, you enjoy unleashing the fury of the caps lock key and over punctuation?

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...

OP, your profile says "Don't contact me now.  Contact me later, when I'm ready."

So is there any surprise that all of the men who contact you ignore your profile?  You've screened out all the others.

As a practical matter, if you want to avoid the incoming mail, take down your profile photo for now.

Unless of course you want men slavishly following your profile desperately waiting for you to give the "ok" that they can communicate with you. In which case,  um... best of luck.

you state in your profile you will be looking, but not yet are. You state in your journal you want zero contact and will block anyone that contacts you.

as wanders say, so do I...I also keep getting emails from guys who are younger and/or from other countries then the ones I am going to relocate to...so I just block and delete as I have quite frankly no time left to waste it with needless chit chat to why I am not interested in an involvement with someone in turkey or spain or norway...and why they do it, heck I don't know but I also do agree again with wanders that trolling is common...just sending a neutral email to a few ladies, someone will pick it up and get back...so my best friends on here are the block and delete button as my life is busy enough already without putting up with that crap...good luck
