MstrBinder -> Bad manners or not? (3/14/2006 8:45:47 AM)

Let me start by saying that I was raised in the South and have a certain sense of good manners that were built into me. That being said, I wonder if I am the only one that finds no response to an email as bad manners. Even a "no thanks" or "not interested' would be more polite than no response at all. Any comments?

Just curious.... do you send a note to each and every company/individual that puts a business flyer in your mailbox that thanks but your not interested in what they have to offer?

Just curious.... did you stop to consider how many emails and notes individuals get... particularly females from interested males?

Good Manners is one thing... But, receiving unwanted solicitation doesn't require someone to respond! If you didn't recieve a reply... I think it is safe to say... They are not Interest if they do not respond! Now if they recieve a solicitation that interests them... Not only will they respond, but I expect they will do so with good manners.

*Sigh* May I suggest you search for other topics about this subject. Believe me they are VERY frequent!

What kind of secondary responses to you get when you reply to those nice people who are trapped in third world countries with millions of dollars they need to get out? Have you had interesting conversations with the perveyors of viagra (or |/agra)?

I think it is so nice you respond to all your emails. I don't bother.

A good point and no, I don't. However, I also don't put up a sign indicating I might be interested in hearing from them either.

Don't take the reaction too personal, but as I indicated earlier this is a VERY common topic and has been discussed to DEATH over the last few months (And no doubt for months privious to me arriving also).

It is a common first impression about the lack of replies, but there are a lot of other reasons that can account for no responce being sent out, not least the fact that those of us that would appreciate such and react accordingly are FAR outnumbered by the brainless idiots who react negativly to any rejection and get abusive or who take any responce as an involve to try and persuaide the young lady to change her mind in mail after mail after mail.

TemptingNviceSub -> RE: Bad manners or not? (3/14/2006 11:26:28 AM)

It is simply bad manners...however.(I love that word!)..bad manners abound in all aspects of life not just BDSM .So deal with it as you deal with it everyday of your life..move on...And as far as your point on saying in essence that you are answering an advertisement that was placed..one must never forget these are individuals..not a bsuiness..so if no response then i guess the answer is not interested as KOM stated..but on the other side of that coin ...just remember you did not waste much time on that individual, now you can proceed to others maybe even someone who does respond!..be well..Tempting

and what makes you think that those you emailed where interested in your particular email in the first place. Just because you have a mailbox doesn't mean you wanted junk mail. Just because they have a profile doens't mean they want a email from every person that has a profile.

Its the bread and butter of the male collarme universe from what I've been reading. The good news is, you won't have to ever master those complicated "mail controls" or worry about what's in your bulk email folder.

Check out the classic Real0ne thread:

While you ponder your own questions down there in the gentile South, you might think of all the beleaguered ladies, AWASH in solicitations, emails, come-ons, dick shots, one liners, and form correspondence, and suggest to them methods, strategies, and strategems of response. Some of them are obviously keen on the DELETE button.

Oh!!!! --- Here's another link to A CYBER SUPER SUPER DIVA's comments on the subject. Her words, I'm sure, will be an Aloe Vera balm to your unattended wounds.

As for what I have to say, well, you might consider what Richard Bolles says about resumes. He calls them "rejection tools."

As a female who may recieve 20-30 emails a day, many are automatically deleted for a variety of reasons. If they have poor spelling and grammar, DELETE, if they start talking about sex, DELETE (You don't discuss sex with a potential partner until you get to know them.) If they just seem immature, unintelligent, or "not my type" DELETE. If they only write one line, DELETE. If they take the time to write a well written, well thought out email, I will respond. If they are not what I'm looking for due to age, location, etc then I will tell them so. But I'd say I delete probably 60% of emails because the person just comes across as immature in some way and therefore not worth my time.

Yes, I suppose it always important to spell all your words correctly.

HouseofBear -> RE: Bad manners or not? (3/14/2006 3:21:29 PM)

You forgot one of my peeves, chuckles. If I get an email with a genitalia pic, DELETE.

amayos -> RE: Bad manners or not? (3/14/2006 3:35:08 PM)

The internet sets the stage for a wide variety of etiquette-related atrocities. As our society only seems to be getting more rude both on and off-line, I would expect the problem to gradually get worse rather than better. Personally, I don't ever contact submissives; I let them contact me. Generally, I find this to be a more spontaneous and reliable method of determining interest.

collegebeauty -> RE: Bad manners or not? (3/14/2006 3:40:19 PM)

Raven has a very good point.

You wouldn't believe the nubmber of responses I get to my "thanks but no thanks" e-mails ARGUING with me about why I should want the person. It's rediculous. For now, I still try to answer them, but I swear, if I get one more, I may not.

angelic -> RE: Bad manners or not? (3/14/2006 3:44:24 PM)

my favorites are the ones that tell me i'm not a slave and to leave CM... THEN have me blocked when i try to respond... rude happens. If it's not someone not responding to an e-mail, then it's someone sending a rude e-mail, etc. It's part of being on the net unfortunately. We can suck it up and just move on or let it piss us off. i prefer the former.

Everyone has an occasional typo or misspelling but what I'm referring to is people who talk like this:

"hi i'm bob nice 2 meet u. ur pretty. how r u doing 2nite. can i hav ur nubner?"
