My prayers and good energy go out to those affected by this hurricane. May everyone come through it safely.

On a personal note, Frances is my mother's name, so I can understand the concern for devestation and interferance in folks lives.

Thanks LadyShoshin:

I ask myself every hurricane season why I continue to live in Florida, but I stay each year. I did an "ask Jeeves" search on the best place to live in the US that had no natural disasters and it came back that there is no such place. So, here I am, housing east coast family and friends and actually feeling the adrenalin rush of watching the monster get closer to Florida. Is that weird? I do hope for the best for those in the hurricane's track. Please take care and be safe!!!

Sincerely,
ann

A question that occured to me, what happens to the homeless, pretty much every city has them, those people who fall through the cracks in the system, those whose only home is a cardboard box or the shelter of a highway overpass. When natural disaster strikes, what happens to those who have no computer, tv or radio to warn them? Even if they get the warning, where can they go?

I know that around here, most of the homeless are men who go to the day labor places each day. They would get info there. Also, there are tons of shelters open so they can get food, etc. Unfortuneatly if a hurricane hits the shelter, they may be in trouble. There truly is a great effort on the part of emergency management to inform all residents and that is why there are few casualties when a hurricane strikes, like Charley 3 weeks ago. It hit a fully populated area where there could have been more deaths. The homeless are fairly okay during a hurricane, the time I worry about them is in the winter on the few occasions it gets below 30 degrees (which is unbelievably cold to us).

Ok, I feel better, here in the great white north, we get casualties over the winter from homeless who have frozen to death who refuse to go to shelters because they fear for their personal safety or for what few belongings they have.

I was listening to the hurricane reports, of people going to stay with friends or to shelters and suddenly had a mental picture of the homeless. Ok, so I am a soft hearted Domme.

Hopefully there will be no casualties and the hurricane will turn back out to sea to blow itself out over open water.
