Any how, Isaac Hayes will no longer be playing Chef on the show South Park.

Oh my god, they killed Chef!  I didn't see that comming. I figured they could just have someone else do his voice for future episodes. Is Chef the first character of South Park to actually be dead and gone? Oh well, it's not like they couldn't bring him back. It could have been all a dream to make fun of Dallas when they brought Bobby back. They can also show episodes having him in either Heaven, Hell, or Pergitory. At any rate, I look forward to seeing the rest of the Tenth season.

Since South Park is on the list of programs which I have banned from airing in My home when I am present, ir issue is moot. However to the crux of the situation.. If you choose to maje jokes or taking shots at people's beliefs etc, you best be prepared to deal with reciprocole jokes and shots.

I too do not allow those programs in My home, I am not nor have I ever been one to tell or allow most jokes, they are almost always aimed at anothers uniquenesses, differences, foibles, challenges---I found I could not teach tolerance and non judgementalism when one turns around and mocks another---however, I am of the mindset if you put it out there, be prepared to have it attacked--its the whole glass house mentality to Me.

Either you get South Park or you don't, and I'm well aware that many don't.  And that's okay.

If you DO watch the show regularly, you realize that what they mock is bigotry and intolerance themselves. And making a judgement against a show that you don't actually watch is actually being judgemental in itself.

Yes, there was a time when I didn't allow the show to be watched in my home, either.  But when my kids, who were in their last couple years of high school challenged me to watch it with them , I did.  And when I read between the lines, as THEY advised me to do, I did find some good messages in the show.  And, when something objectionable did come up, it was a great opportunity for a parent/kids discussion and I found that my kids actually had really great values instilled in them.  Like, hey, maybe I did an okay job raising them after all.

I know the show's not for everybody, but I like to be open-minded. It's one of my favorites.  As is Family Guy.

When I saw the previews that Chef was "back" and then watched the first few minutes of the show, I didn't know where they heck they were going with it.  I think what they did was just dub previous recordings of Chef's voice from old episodes into his dialogue for this episode, which I'm sure took a lot of work, editing and splicing, on their parts, lol.

The Super Adventure Club DID sort of "rebuild" him into that Darth Vader-like entity. So, he's not actually dead and buried.  I think they've left the door open for possibilities for future episodes, with or without Isaac Hayes.  I don't think they're through with the Church of Scientology yet, lol.

"I'm not upset at Chef for leaving us. I blame his fruity little club for scrambling his brains."

I wonder if Isaac made the connection on Chefs ulogy.

Why is telling a joke not hate speech, but standing on a soap box is?

Frankly I don't see much difference between them. As I've said before, I strongly support free speech and one of the big reasons is I like to know who is bigoted and hateful.

If they are silenced, we don't get to know until they do something. (Krystalnach again?) I prefer to let them speak and joke so they show their true colours.

Hasnt anyon EVER listened to the stand up comic Carlos Mencia?  Does anyone get his message?  i used to be really against race jokes and then i heard his routines.  Moral of them?  To embrace the differences of our cultures.  To embrace the differences of ourselves. Because it IS there.  Why run and hide from it?  There is Nothing wrong with being different and actually its kind of cool.  i love his stuff and actually its given me a new light to look upon the jokes.  From his last routine he said "if you cant make the jokes infront of who ever you're making fun of, you have no right to make the joke"

Of course there are those who make the jokes out of underlining hate and stuff.  i was raised in SF (we love everyone) so i personally cant stand racism ect.  But ya know, there can be a difference.
