ORIGINAL: FatDomDaddy But Popeye... Bush did it too! See how easy it works... My mistake, FDD...I misread the quote and thought that it was something made up. For some reason I was sure the quote said "unless" instead of "because". My bad and I withdraw my comment with apologies. That being said, I don't recall ever saying "It's ok because Bush did it" and I'm damned sure that I didn't put that in my posting. Perhaps it is a guilty concience for your having supported such a ruinous executive for seven years until the damage he did became so obvious there was no choice but to admit his total lack of ability? I still think that he was a lousy, lousy president, but I have never said that his grievous transgressions should be counted as precedents. On this matter, I have written to the white house (for what it's worth) several times on this matter. To assume that the president has control over congressional or senate doings (the closed door meetings) is overreaching his power and very much throwing everything one can at the administration. His balking at turning over matters in which he is involved for public scrutiny is a disappointment. In this, as in several other matters, it seems that the DC system is changing Obama far more than Obama is changing the DC system. I have not yet given up on this president but I will willingly admit that in many ways he is not living up to, as president, his promise as a candidate. I begin to think that he may be an adequate president, and certainly better than the one he replaced, but it is sad to see him fall so far short of what we hoped he would be.
