True enough. The hanky code is pretty widely known as well.

Maybe in the circles you travel.
But not in the rarified air willbeur travels in.....Tell me willbeur....what the fuck are you doing slumming here with the likes of us?

Lucylastic -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/10/2009 4:30:08 PM)

Dammit Mike,ya beat me to it, I was just gonna ask if thats sposed to be an insult, considering the board we are on.

LMFAO shaking my head...Priceless

No, it was not intended to be an insult. People in this insular little world think that the genpop is far more aware of things than they really are.

Lucylastic -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/10/2009 4:51:32 PM)

Thank you for the clarification.

Oh--by the way--

A twelve and a half minute feature, largely on the Dallas Tea Party, on All Things Considered.

I don't want to interrupt the thread, but I thought it might be relevant.

luckydawg -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/10/2009 7:37:50 PM)

I have no idea what you are saying Servant....Do you, for some reason, think I am a Clinton fan ?

Musicmystery -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/11/2009 6:13:48 AM)

So let's see...

After all the ranting and raving about the Tea Party, amid the ongoing taunts and touting, with all the clamor about coverage--

No one has anything to say about a feature on the Tea Party.

Interesting.

kittinSol -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/11/2009 6:18:47 AM)

I've moved house a month ago and I can only get NPR in my car - the house radio just doesn't receive it. I've fiddled with the antenna and everything: no joy.

I'd love to hear the feature, so if it's available on the NPR website, I'll sit down and listen to it with unmitigated interest.

Musicmystery -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/11/2009 6:35:12 AM)

kitten (et al),

All NPR programs/stories are available on the website. In this case, you have but to click the link: Tea Party Story

kittinSol -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/11/2009 6:36:34 AM)

I was hoping you'd do that - thank you :-) . Listening now.

"It's because Obama doesn't love America like most Americans do."

We all know what that means.

Moonhead -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/11/2009 8:31:55 AM)

That he's Kenyan and his birth certificate is a fake?

You're welcome. The link in post one, though, is the same story.

There's a lot of bluster from those interviewed--as well as backing away. Texas secession is a fantasy Texans have once or twice a day--Texas Monthly (a fine good periodical, incidentally), bills itself as a Texas national publication, for example. Later, she says she was just excited.

The real story, though, is the future (or lack) of the Tea Party. Angry demonstrators is nothing new, and a flash in the pan. The Tea Party folk already can't agree on much of anything, let alone any clear direction. If the Dallas Tea Party can pull itself together over this, drawing support from all political parties, they could have something. But that's easier said than done. And if not, then as he says himself, it's just another paper tiger.

Yeah...the "He just doesn't love this country" bullshit wears thin quickly. No doubt, his secret plan all along. If that's the typical Tea Party member, we've an answer to the substance question. If the organizers are, perhaps a different story.

If disdain for the things that made this country great = "he just doesnt love this country" then he doesn't.

mnottertail -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/11/2009 9:25:49 AM)

what makes this country great? and what is Obama doing to undermine it?

You need to get a job, wilbur.

Ron

kittinSol -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/11/2009 9:28:04 AM)

Preferably, a job where he has to push a tea trolley [8D] .

Musicmystery -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/11/2009 9:28:18 AM)

Now that that's established...how about the content of the feature?

If disdain for that which made this country great is the threshold, then a whole lot of people, including wilbeur, hate America.

It's rhetorical nonsense.

Is the Tea Party really so weak that this is all the discussion it deserves?

The topic of the feature doesn't interest me enough to bother, and the Tea Party doesnt deserve 3/4 of the discussion its already had. Protests are protests and whether they are from the right or left, the only thing that matters is what happens at the voting booth.

Musicmystery -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/11/2009 9:40:36 AM)

Agreed.

Musicmystery -> RE: NPR Tea Party feature (12/11/2009 1:18:28 PM)

...though the main focus of the feature is the Dallas Tea Party organizing to influence which candidates are chosen.

Not like a political party, but of interest if they can prove successful.

I heard the broadcast, and would've liked to hear from more chapters/branches, etc.  Perhaps in a short series.
