I really, really thought this was something from The Onion when it was mentioned in a blog, but it's an honest-to-(your respective deity)-book.

It's Help Mom, Radicals Are Ruining My Country!

" From the author of the bestselling Help! Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed!, Katharine DeBrecht, comes Help! Mom! Radicals Are Ruining My Country! - a hilarious and entertaining way for parents to sit down with their children and teach them the origins of the new Tea Party movement and the importance of standing up for liberty and the American Dream. Follow Tommy and Lou as they struggle to keep their swing set business afloat despite 246 czars, onerous regulations and sky-high taxes in these troubling times.  Will Tommy and Lou finally decide to join the other kids on the corner in standing up for freedom or will they continue to fear being vilified by the press and demeaned by Marxus Obundus (“the One”)? "

The "new" Tea Party movement is astroturf (see FreedomWorks, dontGO, and Americans for Prosperity).

Frankly, I don't even know what to say about stuff like this.  If this is the base of the Republican party, they're going to end up in their own little island of existence.

Awww, ith thumbuddy poking phun at woo?

Jeeez, if we ever reach the point where there are no more Republicans left, some folks here won't know what to do with themselves.

No wait, nevermind, scratch that... This is serious!

Carry on.

I remember years back seeing a version of "The Little Red Hen" where, at the end, people stepped in to explain to the Hen that she shouldn't be upset, and what would have happened if this had been a Communist farm.

I was going to write something surreal, but my pen ran out...

Well I haven't read it, and I'll allow that I might change my mind if I did. But there's some pretty funny stuff in there...

Sample
"The tingle up my leg just confirms he is a savior!" a TV host proclaimed.

Sample
"Like the Cheeseballs for Squirrels program?" Tommy retorted visibly frustrated.
"Was that in that bill?" Dontreid asked as all the radicals looked around at each other. The radicals huddled up and put on their thinking caps trying to figure out which bill was what.
"I thought that was snuck in the Popcorn Bill."
"No, no, we cut military funding in the Popcorn Bill."
"Oh yeah! I remember! We put the Cheeseballs for Squirrels program in the Education Bill along with the funding for a study on how talk radio affects acne in fish!”

Frankly, I'm not so sure that it's not really more for adults to get a snicker from. I doubt that kids would get half of it, or for that matter much care at their age. I find it hard to imagine many parents actually using it as a serious teaching tool.

For those who do, of course, at least it's funnier than the Old Testament.

~FR~

I have always separated political agreement from funny. This is actually pretty funny. If anyone actually takes it seriously, that's even funnier.

It's lame that selling swing sets is the most wholesome job they could conjure up.
