So I live in Central Florida, and to my knowledge there is one "club" around here, and no rentable dungeon space that I have been able to locate.. It seems like there is a fair amount of people in this area into bdsm, but no facility to use for playing. SO here is my question, Is there such a thing as rentable space where you can do anything ( including the things u cant do at clubs for legal reasons) or does someone know if doing sexual things in a rentable space crosses the prostitution line or is simply impossible to get permits for ( I can imagine getting permits would be a real pain). And I know there are a couple of bdsm bed and breakfast houses in USA, are these actually permitted that way? Do you have basically ne sort of play allowed ( It is consenting adults after all) I just have curiosites, since maybe Ill make one in florida, if it seems like there is a need, want, desire on the part of the community.. Cuz It sure does sound like fun /snicker

I have been searching for place for the same reason in the MD/DC/VA area and to date have found none. There is one club you can play at but thats as far as it goes and I've not been able to locate a dungeon for rent. Once I get moved I intend to build my own dungeon and that will solve the problem.

Actually both the Crucible in DC and Playhouse in Baltimore are available to be rented out for private evening engagements. However, that's a chunk of cash and usually for people who want a small private party for a whole evening, not an intimate one on one session. There are lots of people in MD/DC who have private dungeons and a few who rent time in them, but it's a lot of "if you know who to know" and since I've never needed to know, I don't pay much attention.

As far as other places, I know in Atlanta, the big club there is a B&B type dungeon with lots of cute little play areas that you can rent for a night or day of one-on-one play.

Sex laws vary. In the Crucible, sex is completely ok on its private nights. What you can do from club to club varies.

The problem for renters isn't "prostitution" per se. While it vaies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, most places have what is called a "disorderly house law." They are aimed as prosecuting brothel owners and usually read "he who intentionally keeps a house or apartment for the purposes of commercial sexual gratification." The "intentionally" is an out for hotel owners.

I know the Boston situation best since I ran a prodom/prosub business there. The charge for prostitution was a misdemeanor (up to six months). The charge for disorderly house was a felony (up to three years).

This is a major reason why people are leery about renting out dungeon space

Before you lay out that much money, I would suggest that you find a local lawyer who is familiar with the BDSM laws in your area and see what can and what can NOT be done.

I'd bet that if you build it you will find you have a whole bunch of new 'friends' who want to visit you.....

As in other posts, I'll state that this should be a lawyer who is familiar with the sex enforcement in your area. It's a very narrow speciality about which most lawyers are ignorant. I recommend going to a local adult bookstore or strip club and find out whom they use.
