The following questions are asked because I am really perplexed by the common usage of curse words on this board. I do hope I worded my self without offending anyone, but I doubt it.

My personal bend on cursing is not to do it. I use to talk like a truck driver and when late hubby and i moved in with each other, he threw a dictionary in front of me and said..educate yourself  if you plan to be with me.

A million light years from that moment, i have learned to not curse especially in using the F..word. I do find how it is used at times very disrespectful. Perhaps because i am of an older generation..but wait a minute, we were the people that could roll those words around so politically correct back in the 60's, so that is not it. I just find it being used as an adjective to someone's name very tactless. With that being said I do have some questions, if anyone would like to answer.
Would it bother you as a Dom. to have your s-type cursing on these boards?
Why and why not?
Does it bother you if they do out in the street? In a club?
What is your opinion on how you expect your s-type to present themselves verbally?

Would it bother you if your s-type went to a mumch without you, and another Dom reported to you later in the day, you best control your s-type mouth. Her cursing makes you look as if........?
Or perhaps it doesn't bother you at all?
That is why i am asking to find out a perspective on this.

For the s-types
Would you swear at a club, out in public with your Dom? I
f you do not why would you on the message boards?
Do you find that it is easier to be lax on here, then when serving your Dom in public?
What are your views on how you present your self in regards to cursing and how others would think of your Dom.

I have to admit i am startled with the cursing and swinging of these words at people or used as adjectives for a person. Plus coming from a free spirited mind and generation, i am amazed that i am bothered. Maybe age does have something to do with it. In my world it is not used everyday. It is not used as a common word.

I am sure i might have stepped on some toes, but please do believe me i am curious to the why's. It can't be a generation thing, my daughter doesn't swear as much as i seen on these boards. So in my perplexitiy I ask for some understanding, and forgiveness on my spelling.

Well fuck...I'm just kinda curious why you only mention subs? Do you feel like it's inappropriate for doms to curse?

Good question and thanks for bringing it to my attention. I do not notice Doms cursing as much as s-types, but to answer your question if they use it as a common word, for example like we use 'and', yes i do find it inappropriate.

i can see your point about use of curse-words, however from my perspective, this is a forum where the discussions and subject matter are not exactly mainstream, so people here may feel a little more free to express themselves in a brutally honest way without feeling compelled to put on airs or graces; or to portray themselves as being posher or cultured than others. Most users call a spade a spade, if you know what i mean.

That's also an interesting point about the feelings of Doms towards cursing; or seeing their submissives/slaves using such language - most Doms would trust their subs/slaves to conduct themselves in such a manner that they wouldn't really need to worry about being embarrassed or shown up by loutish or trashy behavior....

I don't know that I will be really answering any of your questions since you do seem to be asking them from a little different point of view than my own (I'm a sub male). But I have my own opinion about the topic.

I tend to see myself as a gentleman, and as such I prefer the company of a lady. I was raised to believe that ladies and gentlemen don't swear...at least not as a general, every day form of communication. I don't care how beautiful a woman might be...I don't care how much of a saint she may be in attitude...if she swears like a sailor and can't converse for at least 10 minutes without reverting to swearing then there is almost no chance that we could ever make it as a couple. To me constant swearing is simply vulgar, classless, and indicates a lack of intelligence.

That said, all bets are off once the hammer strikes my thumb or I get pissed about something. I can, when provoked, string together the blue words as well as any ex-con or longshoreman out there.

words have meaning AND impact. There are times when "cursing" is appropriate and times when it isn't, whether its a Dom or sub. My first lg cursed a blue streak in public and it was more endearing than offputting.

I very seldom swear - and when i do , i am under some sort of stress. For instance, the last time Sir scened me in public, he gave me a particularly hard stroke with the cane, i yelled "Fuck a duck", and for some reason, the room dissolved in laughter. VERY rude of them!!!!!!

People who feel the need to throw swear words around strike me as being ill-educated. Their ability to express themselves seems to be stunted, and shows by bad language. i can be just as insulting and never use any words that would offend my grandmother.

My ums learned to censor their music (ie the swearing) - i told them if it offends me and we are driving, the cd does a frisbee! Some days there was a lot of track skipping.

Thank you Katie
I am not sure if this has anything to do with cultured, just me not getting it. As i stated, i did try to not step on toes, but i know that is impossible. Might be because i am 58, and it's a generation thing, yet i use to swear worst then any trucker. Just find it puzzling, and looking for some help to understand this. Not that i plan to change anyone or change myself, but a little understanding doesn't hurt imo.

Thank you answering in your view of a male submissive igor. And yes i can still find the trucker in me if i hurt myself etc, but it isn't a part of my common language. am glad you posted your view.

She curses like a drunken sailor.  See post above.  I couldn't care less.  It's her.

.... but I cuss often around here. It is where I came from and learned to use curse words for effect, laughter and my own expression. Especially if I was in a setting to be on show or if there was a really prudish person who didn't want to laugh and resisted until I made them burst.

I know there is a place and time for things. I was a public speaker for a time, wrote and talked to all sorts of so called important people and believe it or not... was in the ministry for a long while. lol

Now... I figure I am old enough to speak the way I want to, but even I, as bad as I am... can see when I am getting a lil outta hand and will temper myself. My submissive is allowed to curse, but if the situation isn't one that this would be okay... like around children or in many public places or really offensive to other's, I wouldn't like it and would expect them to correct themselves, just as I would if I were to blow it. I really don't mean to be offensive... most the time.

I forgot... a dom coming to tell me that my submissive was acting out... might be listened to or might be told to fuck off. It all depends.

The whole thing makes me shrug a bit.  I can use very formal language, and I can curse with the best of 'em.  For me it depends on the company and the situation and I'm very good at knowing when it's appropriate.  I don't tend to judge a person based on their cursing usage/non-usage, but I also curb my language when in the company of someone who would find it offensive.

ETA:  I can't imagine embarrassing E (or myself) in public, and I also can't imagine him giving a flying fig about what someone else says to him about my behavior.  He reads all my online writing and has never commented on my use of swear words.

I am aware you do, and not to make you laugh, you do it with tact. Odd to explain.

lmaooo...just signed onto the boards, saw this scrolling in the little window and knew immediately who this was.  oh man...too funny.

As to the topic...I'm not a dom, but I'll throw in my pocket full of change.   So far, I've never met a man who curses as much as I do, and none of the dominant males that I've had relationship with had a problem with my language.  In certain situations though, of course I tone it down.  Time and place and all that stuff...

Not odd to me - I understand what you're saying.  Some people can curse with elan, grace and humor while others sound boorish and ill-educated.

Lockit, i could have written what you wrote. my back ground is a bit on the rough side, and like you, i learned young how to pepper my language with profanity.  i also was in the Ministry LOL! There of course was, and is, a time and place for adult language. i cool it in front of kids, and in public places where kids could be (like at a grocery store, they could be on the next isle) i have common sense, and use it as often as i can ... my intend is not to be "vulgar" just expressive of me.

Curse words are part of my vocabulary, which is extensive.   I just don't see the correlation betwean the use of profanity and education. Plenty of highly educated people swear and plenty of ignorant people swear.

As for my Master, I feel certain that he would let me know if I was swearing more than he was comfortable with or in situations that he found inappropriate.  Whether some other Dom thinks I swear too much would probably not be terribly interesting to him.

I use the words that are available to me, and I don't cordon profanity off as "bad".  There are words I never use, but they aren't "swear" words.  I often say, that growing up I would have been in a whole world more trouble for using the "N" word than if I had said "fuck".

Heck, most of the cursing I hear in public, esp the grocery store for some reason, is coming FROM the kids!
