The above posts all seem right on the money.  I will agree with the posters who've said that pain sometimes makes me limp and sometimes makes me hard.  Intense nipple play will usually do the trick.

But, men wax and wane.  It's only in intercourse that it's critical, IMO.

my own experience mimics that of other here. When i arrive at my MASTERS and undress, it is almost impossible not to get hard. But after a few minutes of heavy discipline, the erection goes away. That in no way means i am not aroused by what is happening to me

This may look totally off topic for a moment, but bear with me here.
After having seen a Viagra commercial, i heard the disclaimer, if "if you have an erection lasting more than four hours, call a doctor." being a SAM at heart, i asked a doctor who was aware of my lifestyle if, without the drug, would this be something to be concerned about, as that "problem" would amuse Milady a great deal. The doctor told me that i was fortunate to find one who might keep me at that state of arousal, but that this would be an unusual circumstance, and without a firm (pardon the pun) reason that this would not generally be the case.
If this is a real concern of yours, perhaps you could try and produce your own porn, and make that part of the criteria before it goes to market.

I think it's worth mentioning that there is a huge market for porn that is abusive and degrading, and not in a good way.  I submit to unspeakable things because I know that the one in charge will keep my best interests at the forefront of their mind and will maintain self-control at all times.  But in porn we are not privy even to an unconvincing love story where we can pretend this crucial dynamic exists.  In fact for far too many it is appealing BECAUSE they get to abuse and walk away, and I feel images like this are dangerous on more levels than I can count.

What everyone said about the intermittent nature of erections is true!  But he could also be flaccid because he truly isn't enjoying it.  No one cut my head off please, because I know that there's plenty of deleriously happy couples that engage in activities specifically for that reason.  But they have a level of trust that's just impossible to "feel" in porn.  I have no issue with the activity itself, I only hate how some people get off on using others without any personal responsibility.  If he's enjoying the scene there are other signs besides how erect he is.

A penis requires a lot of the right type of stimulation to remain hard for an extended period of time.

If I were to watch pornography it might get me hard.  If I continued to watch pornography for the next hour without stroking it, I would go flaccid.  If I continued to stroke it, I could remain hard for the entire hour, or the majority of it.

posting from experience, whenever i've been filmed i almost never remain hard for an extended length of time. You have to realize that on top of any corporal you have to endure there is also the distraction of huge tower lights, multiple other people in the room/s in addition to me and the Domme and the fact that many bdsm clips/scenes that you see online usually are not shot beggining to end with no breaks to reset lighting or to get a different angle. I would have to agree with some others, porn is one thing, real life is another. I cannot always be hard all the time (with a Domme) and yes it does get soft but that is the way the body works. The thing is, an it blows my mind at time is how a good Domme knows how the male body works. to me BDSM is not really about sexual arousal, granted I love the fetish attire and that gets me going.  But once I am bound it is all about the pain and I really don't think about my penis unless it is being tortured.

I have videos of me serving and being bound but I never noticed what my penis was doing while being used.  I will have to dig them up and see what is going on down there.

my problem was i stayed too hard during play. it would hurt too much and it would sometimes take away from the pain play.
