Aneirin -> Xmas festivities (12/16/2009 12:05:26 AM)

Am just wondering as I trundle around my locality, looking at the overkill on multicoloured flashing lights and other xmas inspired crap in people's gardens, with all this global warming, how can people do this, waste electricity on lighting that serves no purpose other than to show others one has gone mad with the xmas beat thy neighbour mentality. I live on top of a hill, and from my house I can see all these lights down there in the valley, big splodges of flashing blue lights, and even a white light lit snowman, almost as big as a house frontage. I hear kids bragging on the bus, that their house has better and more xmas festivity lights in their garden, the same kids I see at other times well educated on the man made global warming issue, to me it makes no sense. It seems of what education there is out there on the man made global warming, it is selective education, xmas lighting is allowed, fireworks and bonfires are allowed, that is festivities, but the mundanes of life, the things we need to live by, they are under attack. Fine, go ahead with this man made global warming thing, but hit it first where it is not necessary, get rid of the xmas fairy lights, and other garden crap seen at this time of year, all it is doing, is creating light pollution and all that energy being used for nothing. Fine, they are low wattage bulbs, and LED lighting, but energy is still being used for nothing, that stuff goes first and when the festivities has gone, tackle everything else. So, with the festivities seriously curtailed, the loss creating lower mood, that can be added to, by making us pay more for other so called and identified polluting things, and when we are totally miserable through not being able to enjoy ourselves and being taxed through the nose, the planet will continue just doing it's thing, modifying where and what suits it's purpose, oblivious and uncaring of what the little humans do, as they, like every other lifeform are a parasite on the planet, we are not needed the planet's life, we don't contribute anything, we just take. So, my wonder is, of those who are advocates of man made climate change, this time of year, have they had the courage of their convictions, and got rid of the xmas lighting, or because it is low energy, it does'nt count ?
